Hi,

Hoping someone may be able to share their success story.

I found out I was pregnant on the 11th Feb, my periods since coming off the pill last September have been irregular, one month a 28 day cycle and another 35 day cycle. I estimate I am roughly 5 weeks 5 today.

So Friday I was advised by the nhs helpline to go to a&e because I had small pains on the left side of my stomach, had no bleeding and only felt uncomfortable not doubled over in any pain. They took a blood and urine sample and asked I come back on Tuesday for a scan.

I went to the hospital yesterday and they advised by hcg level from the Friday i went to a&e was ONLY 169, the word only has since stuck with me.
I had a blood test taken yesterday, 4 days after I attended a&e and it rose to 285, hasn't doubled as they would have thought.

I've drove myself mad with worry and can't help but think the worst.
I feel I've lost my symptoms I had, nausea and sore boobs.
They've asked I go back for more bloods Thursday this week and I'm not holding much hope. They have advised they can't do a scan until my hcg levels are over 1000. I'm really anxious and am symptom spotting like crazy.
I started having cramps yesterday not painful just felt like period cramps these have since gone but when I wiped I thought the tissue looked a pale light brown colour sorry tmi.

Should I be worried? Am I right in preparing for the worst? Praying for a miracle in my tests tomorrow.

Has anyone had success stories with hcg not doubling please!
Any advise would be appreciated.

I don't have a success story but I've spent hours of my life searching online for them myself so I know the feeling.

With erratic HCG and pain, you REALLY must be aware of ectopic risk. I don't want to scare you but I had a ruptured ectopic last year and nearly died. If I hadn't already been in hospital when it ruptured I'd not be here now. If you get faint, dizzy or vomit, or the pain gets worse, or you get shoulder-tip pain, it's a medical emergency and you need to get to hospital.

The only way of finding out for sure is a placement scan but it might be too early.

I really hope you have better news soon.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Im so sorry to hear! Was your pain severe? I haven't had any severe pain I would say it was just noticeable, I've been ok since Friday just the cramps that felt like period pains yesterday but not sure if that was due to stress. I've been told to keep an eye out for shoulder pain but so far I've been ok!
Hoping tomorrow I'll have better news, feel like I'm in limbo currently.

I don't know much about the HCG levels.

But for 3 months I still had my period with my 1st. No morning sickness. No gained weight. No pregnancy symptoms. Even at 30+ weeks, I was still wearing my normal clothes, minus a few bits I sized up as my stomach had solidified but not actually grown into a bump. I probably threw up once, my boobs didn't grow till I breast fed, nobody knew I was pregnant to be honest, because I didn't show any signs. I mean when I had him (4 days early) the hospital didn't believe I was in labour as I wasn't "in enough pain".

So I mean, I wouldn't panic about symptoms vanishing, as everyone is different. Just focus on any bleeding.

This time around I have had really bad hip pain (both sides) at the front, like someone's grabbing and twisting my ovaries (no other way to describe it). They told me it's growing pains. I've recently started having bad back pain too, so I think that's to do with hormones. Still no morning sickness, 20 weeks no bump.

So I would honestly only worry about really bad pains or bleeding and call the pregnancy hotline for advice whenever you feel you need to. Bother them as much as you want because that's their job!

HCG should double every 48-36 hours. As yours hasn't doubled in 96, I'm afraid I would prepare for the worst. I've been in your position and it's awful so I'm so sorry. I spent ages googling for positive stories of slow raising hcg but struggled to find one.

They should rule out an ectopic as a previous poster highlighted too. That's what they did for me when my levels weren't rising properly.

Of course I hope you are an exception and all is ok but just thought it'd good to be prepared.

Thank you!

It's nice to hear that people had no symptoms and still went on to have healthy babies!

I think because the conversation was so negative when I went yesterday to have my bloods done I've been beside myself thinking something is going to happen.

It's really difficult waiting for the next blood test, I just pray everything is ok because I'm not having pains or bleeding.

Fingers crossed my hcg levels are a lot higher tomorrow!
I'm trying to think positive and just hoping that maybe I'm earlier than I thought and that's why my hcg is the way it is!

Th a ns95 for your response!

That's exactly what I think at the moment, I've seen very little positive stories.

It's hard because my boyfriend is trying to be positive but I just feel like I know it's not good news!

Hi Jadec1994

I am eager to find out what happened to you please?
I am having a similar issue.
My HCG doubled but only over 4 days and was doubling before every 2.
The last 2 of those days my sore boobs and sickness vanished.
The hospital told me they won't test again for HCG as it is not "cost effective".
I have to wait for scan next Thursday and I am beside myself with fear.
I am 5 weeks in 2 days.
Please could you tell me what happened to you please.
I hope all is well

Hi Hay3Man, I know it's been a little while, but what was your outcome? I am having similar issues with my HCG levels not rising fast enough. I am in Limbo right now waiting for my next ultrasound to see if there are any developments. I am currently 6w6d and am hoping for a miracle.

Thank you :)
