Bra causing discomfort and tightness, anyone else?

Doesn't matter which bra I wear they all cause discomfort. Feels like I'm wearing a corset around my rib cage and is so tight. Even bras that are too big for me. I don't where one at home and dread going out as I have to wear it. Literally feel like I can't breathe. Anyone else experienced this? Any advice please? I've tried non wired, wired, support bras they all have the same effect, awful

It's probably not your bra. Your intercostal muscles and all your abdominal ligaments are relaxing to allow baby as much space as possible.
I'm 34 weeks and only really willing to wear sleep bras anymore, and completely refuse to when I'm at home.

I've felt the same for a few weeks now, like the above post has said i dont think its so much the bras but just the fact baby is taking up all the space and your body all feels so squashed. I've brought several different bras thinking they'd help and there's not much difference between them all, except i do find wired impossible to wear now so ive resorted to breastfeeding bras as they seem to be the most comfortable. For me it is just a minor discomfort but i can understand for others its worse.

I'm only 7 weeks though 🙈

my breasts have been really sensitive this pregnancy so i got a cotton bra which is much comfier

TokenGinger · 18/02/2019 13:43

Yes I've been feeling like this. I've got some sports type bras from Asda which are helping. They still have a clasp at the back, because normal sports bras were just too tight. It has helped quite a bit, I can't face an underwire bra now!

MissMoodyMoo · 18/02/2019 13:47

As soon as I get home the bra comes off!! I also stopped completely wearing knickers after 16w unless I'm wearing a dress as they are to uncomfortable

soontobefour4 · 18/02/2019 13:54

I'm 34 weeks now but my boobs were really sensitive in the early weeks too. I think everything is just uncomfortable when you're pregnant, it's crap! I can remember buying every different type of bra going in my first pregnancy, even if they were comfy for a coupe of weeks my body would change and they'd be agony all over again. I'm just glad I'm a SAHM this time and I can wear no bra and pjs when I'm home, I only get dressed to go out Blush

I bought some bra extenders to give more length around but kept the same cup size. They were quite cheap on amazon.

Try a Sloggi Zero Feel bralette. I bought one on a whim and it's literally the most comfortable piece of clothing I have ever worn.

Hi OP, I was the same in early pregnancy, I put it down to having a hiatal hernia and having to come off the reflux meds I was on. I went for a fitting in M&S at around 7 weeks and explained it to the lovely lady there and she put me in a non-wired bra with a larger back size (I’m usually a 36C and she put me in a 40 A or B, can’t remember) and it’s made such a difference. 17 weeks now and still in the same non-wired bras.

mynameiscalypso · 18/02/2019 15:56

Absolutely seconding @sacrecoeur0712's recommendation. I bought a couple and they are amazing. So comfy!

YouSetTheTone · 18/02/2019 16:01

Thirding the Sloggi Zero Feel! I bought it in desperation on Sat and love it. It’s virtually like being bra-free and isn’t causing discomfort under my breasts at all.

Claireb2203 · 18/02/2019 16:10

Thankyou ladies for your advice.
@GabbyGal did the uncomfortable feeling go? I don't remember having this with dd.

@Claireb2203 The change in bra really helped and I started on an alternative medication for reflux which is safe in pregnancy, and that got rid of the discomfort for me yes.

Wellit · 18/02/2019 16:29

I got a £6 bra from ASDA while I was pregnant, it was basically like a crop top style and a god send while I was pregnant and for a few months after!

Claireb2203 · 18/02/2019 16:58

@GabbyGal is the reflux what was causing the discomfort?

Claireb2203 · 18/02/2019 17:17

I've never thought that it might be indigestion because it just feels like a full feeling up to my ribs but googled it and seems it could be. Going to try some rennie see if that helps. Thanks ladies xx

You're welcome

GabbyGal · 19/02/2019 11:16

For me it was the reflux and/or the hernia yes, the new bras helped ease the discomfort caused by the reflux and even though the reflux is generally better now I’ve stuck with the non-wired bras so not sure how I’d fare with one of my old bras now.

GemmeFatale · 19/02/2019 11:26

What’s the shape like in the zero feel

Whoopsies · 19/02/2019 13:00

I was about to recommend the exact same one as @wellit. I've been wearing these bras for a while now anyway but they are amazing now I'm pg, so comfy!!

Wellit · 19/02/2019 21:38

😁 they're amazing aren't they...and the price!!
