Hey I need some help I was on the pill for 7-8 years and decided to come off on dec 2018. My partner and I of course would love to get pregnant but not stressing about it. It happens it happens
My period for January came on the 5th and lasted the 5 days for my next period I was due on the on the 28th of jan.. according to this app I have (i can never calculate my period or when I was ovulating etc)
so I'm now 9 days late on my period..
Im having like period pains but nothing,
I had like sore nipples last week and have felt a little a sick but don't know if that cause I know I could be pregnant that my mind plays games. I took a test on the 6th day late and 9th day late but comes out negative.. I can't think of no reason why my period hasn't come. I haven't felt to stressed or anything... what could this be? Or any help?

When I came off the pill many years ago it took a few months to get a regular cycle back - once it did though it was regular as clockwork afterwards.

All you can do is keep pg testing weekly to check you've not conceived (you might have tested too early) and wait for next period. If you aren't pregnant it'll probably settle down to be more regular again pretty soon - but it's not unusual for it to take a while to regulate again.

If no period after 3 months I'd definitely talk to GP - but for now I think you just have to be patient.

My Mum though managed to conceive me when she came off the pill before having a period but that was in the days before scans were common - so she didn't know she was pg until it was bloody obvious and they had no clue when I was due! They were over a month out as it goes (I was earlier than anticipated).

So having a missed period is ok? I should not be worried? Cause now I'm stressing if something is wrong with me as I have smear test next week!!! Confused

When did you stop taking the pill? Was your period on 5th Jan a proper period or was it a withdrawal bleed from the pill?
And do you know what your cycles were like before going on the pill? Ie were they regular and roughly 28 days?
The app saying your period was due on 28th would give you a 23 day cycle which is short and could be wrong. But obviously might be fine based on any data you might have put in previously.
If you only recently stopped the pill it could be that your body is still adjusting to the hormones and getting back to normal. Test again in a few days.

@Nannyo2
Missing periods when coming off the pill is common - doesn't mean you are pg or anything is wrong - it is just your hormones settling down. Obviously you could be pregnant too but too early to tell - so you just need to re-test periodically and if they continue to be negative wait for your cycle to re-start.
Some people can take a year to get back to normal- others find it happens immediately. For me it took about 3 months.

Well on Monday evening went to the bathroom and saw pinkish blood but Tuesday all day nothing through out the day and the same thing happened last night a bit of blood came out in the evening. Like a pinning colour. Then in the morning nothing was there just brownish colour from dry blood.. is this normal?

@Nannyo2 - when coming off the pill, everything is normal!!! It's a bit like withdrawal (it is withdrawal). Your body is used to having the hormones from the pill. Take those hormones away and your body's like, 'hey what happened?? You mean I have to start cycling all those hormones myself?!' Some people's bodies adjust quickly, and some don't. Some fall pregnant on first ovulation before their period, and others don't.

It took a few months for my cycle to settle after the pill. Its nothing to worry about.

Hi OP,

Clare, a midwife, runs through some early signs of pregnancy in this video:

Hope you find it helpful... Did any of you have similar symptoms?
