How long did it take you ladies from show to labour?

Iv read that the show and the mucus plug are two different things and Iv definitely had the bloody show xx

It's the same thing. The show and mucus plug is the same thing. Antenatal classes would or should have told you that, I hope! 😂

I had a sweep then a bit of a show, then a second sweep and that was it. After the second sweep it took a grand total of one hour to go into active labour!

How exciting!! Good luck!! Hope it's sooner rather than later for you 🤞🤞

It absolutely is NOT the same thing!!

I had a small bloody show as my first sign of labour with both my children. First one my waters broke about 4 hours later but no contractions so was induced, second one contractions started about 8 hours later.

Good luck for when the time comes, hope you don’t have to wait too long!

Behold the NHS website... a credible source of medical information:

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/labour-signs-what-happens/

"a 'show',when the plug of mucusfrom your cervix (entrance to your womb, or uterus)comes away"

Bigonesmallone3 · 05/02/2019 17:07

They are the same but also not the same..
A show can come away but grow back and is usually clear/white

A bloody show can mean imminent labour and it's pink/blood stained..

They are both from the same place yes

OP I agree with you. For both my children, I lost bits of my mucus plug for weeks - green and snot like (sorry!). My bloody show both times immediately preceeded contractions starting, within the next 24 hours. I hope things get moving for you soon!

Hopehope20 · 06/02/2019 09:23

I had my bloody show on a Saturday and my boy arrived on the Monday night. Good luck!

PutOnAHappyFace · 06/02/2019 09:27

I had a bloody show weeks before my dc3. Even the midwives were convinced he would come but nope he refused for weeks.

TinyMarie · 06/02/2019 10:16

I had a very slight bloody show 2 weeks ago and nothing. I lost my mucus plug yesterday at 39+3 and nothing.
I've only recently realised they are two different things but in my case, it hasn't amounted to much yet!
