Recent birth experience at PRUH Orpington?

Hello ladies,

I'm 11 weeks pregnant and currently registered to give birth at PRUH.
Wondering if anyone who has recently given birth could share their experiences?

I've had ds1 at St.Helier, 12 hour labour and spent 6 hours in the birthing pool. Ds1 eventually came out through vent house and I had an episiotomy. I had a catheter put in when I arrived at the birthing pool in the hospital, which was only removed when they took me in the OT for delivery. I then ended up at the post natal ward because I became ill with suspected sepsis. After days of blood tests and still not being able to confirm what was actually wrong, I was discharged after 5 nights.
All in all, a pretty traumatic experience!

I understand that every person's labour story is different and the care one receives is not entirely representative of the staff at St. Helier.

I'd still appreciate if people could share their birth experiences at the PRUH or St.Helier because I'm in two minds whether to stick with PRUH or switch to St. Helier. Thanks.

Hello! I gave birth at PRUH last year, and was in/out a lot antenattly. The care I had was faultless, they are amazing. They often have student midwives so you might want to have a think about whether you’d be happy for a student to take part in your care. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck!

Hi op.

I had both my boys at the PRUH most recently on the 4th Jan. The care they gave were great. They have a specialist feeding team to help with breastfeeding if you wish to breastfeed. All the midwives I met during my care were respectful and did a good job of looking after me and ds.
