I didn’t see a heartbeat till 8+ weeks and I had a scan every week from 4 weeks. There’s still hope 😊 x

Isittimeforbed · 10/01/2019 14:16

What else did they see ... did they see a fetal pole or yolk sac? How big was the sac overall and sure of your dates are you?

Justincase87 · 10/01/2019 14:17

Did they see a foetal pole and say there was no heartbeat, or was there just a sac and yolk? It wouldn't be unusual to not see a heartbeat at 6 weeks - have they offered another scan in 2 weeks?

Theconifers25 · 10/01/2019 14:19

Flowers Did they offer up the advice that there can often be no heartbeat detected at this early stage? Or was it conclusive bad news?

Icklepup · 10/01/2019 14:20

I think you still have hope unless they said otherwise.

KitKatCHA · 10/01/2019 14:23

I had an early scan at 6 weeks and no heartbeat, I was told this was fairly normal. When I went back at 8 weeks it was clearly visible. Unless they've said otherwise, don't give up hope yet.

HJWT · 10/01/2019 14:37

I had a scan at 6 weeks there was only a sac, shes 2 now x

needanappp · 10/01/2019 14:44

Unless they told you different, not seeing a heartbeat at 6 weeks doesn't always mean a miscarriage. They grow at all different rates at this early stage and a lot of people don't see a heartbeat until 7 or 8 weeks.

Emsie11 · 10/01/2019 15:25

There was a yoke sac and Fetal pole just no heart beat. According to there dates I should be 7/8 weeks and the fetus was measuring 6 weeks so they believe the pregnancy has stopped at 6 weeks

Emsie11 · 10/01/2019 18:02

I’ve never been through this before, I’ve no idea what to expect in the next few weeks 😭

Was it a private scan Hun? You need to contact your early pregnancy unit, they will be able to give you options for how to move forward, ring your GP in the morning and ask whether you need a referral, explain you've had a scan and need to do what to do next, apologies if you had the scan at the EPU but they should hopefully have given you a bit more of an idea what to expect

HayleyHaystack · 10/01/2019 22:38

I was in this exact situation in April. My heart goes out to you. It’s a heartbreak like no other. Will I give you hope if I tell you I’m now 15 weeks with the rainbow? Anything you need to know just ask x

Emsie11 · 10/01/2019 22:42

I had the scan with epu they made me an appointment for 2 weeks time but I didn’t say what I do in the mean time

The scan in 2 weeks is to see if there’s been any change. Depending on the size of the sac and fetal pole they need to wait to see if anything changes and there’s any development. So you don’t need to do anything in the meantime. It’s a horrible waiting game, you could contact them to ask if they could rescan in a week instead?

HayleyHaystack · 11/01/2019 10:02

@emsie11 So I had a private scan that confirmed a heartbeat but it was too slow. They also said I was measuring 5-6 weeks when my dates should have been 8-9. I was certain of dates.
We were told to come back for a rescan in the week. 2 days later I went to the EPU at 8am sick with worry. Another scan confirmed the heartbeat has stopped. This day was all a blur, we were told to go home - take time off work - and see what happens. And they would make an app for me In 2 weeks for a rescan and potential surgery. They told me it could happen naturally and to be prepared. Husband took day off, we went home, lay in bed and watched TV and cried all day, and rather scarily the miscarriage began about 9pm. Husband went out to buy heavy duty pads, painkillers and gin. The following day it was full on - painful in parts, back and forth to bathroom, what comes out isn’t horrific but it’s all a bit distressing and uncomfortable. I drank a large gin & tonic that evening on the sofa - I don’t think that’s recommended, but if helped me. Overall the mc lasted a week start to finish. On the 3rd day it was just like a very heavy period but annoyingly you can’t use tampons. Overall I took 3 days off work and that wasn’t enough. I had to deal with a pregnancy announcement in the office that week and I definitely shouldn't have been there. After 2 weeks of the mc starting I went back for the scan to be told that it was fully complete. That was a huge relief. Sounds weird but we went out for wine and dinner to celebrate getting through a tough 2 weeks and toasting our future pregnancy that we hoped to have. In the weeks that followed I was quite depressed, miserable and it took me 2 months to get back to normal. Cycle wise and mood wise. This pregnancy has been good so far, I’ve had 3 scans in 15 weeks and I’ll definitely have another private one before the 20 weeker. It’s an incredibly anxious time as you’d guess.
I hope this story helps you. Xx

I’m feeling so incredibly alone right now. I started bleeding this morning the pain is awful. Physically and mentally. The worst is we broke up before finding out I was pregnant. He couldn’t handle it. This was my last chance of a baby I’m also 41 so the chance of getting pregnant again are probably so unlikely 😭😭

I had my first scan at 6 weeks. They only just caught a glimmer of a heartbeat and they weren't entirely sure it was the heartbeat.

Going off their dates (using my last monthly period), I should have been 8 weeks, but going off my dates as I know I ovulated late, 6 weeks was bang on. I went back a week later and he was absolutely fine.

If their dates are based on your last monthly period, there's hope yet, as they cannot say with certainty that you ovulated when they think you did.

TokenGinger · 12/01/2019 15:38

Oh, OP, I'm so sorry. I just saw the update from this morning. I completely missed the part where you said you were bleeding.

Do you have friends or family around? Don't be alone right now.

My heart goes out to you Thanks
