Hello, I am currently 35 weeks and 5days pregnant. I had an appointment booked with my midwife on the 27th December. I want to discuss with her my birth plan and I was asked at 4 weeks. Which my reply was I don't know haha it's my first pregnancy. I haven't been asked again.

On arrival to the appointment, the receptionist told me that I won't be seeing my midwife another lady has come in. I asked her about the birth plan and that I would like it at home. She said to message my usual midwife was this needs to be sorted by 36weeks. I then message the midwife no response. I've message again 3 times and left a voicemail and haven't received anything back.

Am I going to be too late to have a home birth? Do midwifes usually not message or call back ?

I'm very stressed and worried that I'm
Not going to be allowed what I want

Help?xxx

Do you have email or text contact details? If so, I'd message her and state that you need a home birth pack ASAP. They have a kit that needs to be prepared, and can take a little time to organise, but as she was unavailable there is no reason why she can't accommodate you a little later than usual.
Either way, leave a message asking for the HB kit with the receptionist.
AFAIK you can insist on a home birth at any point, but obviously it would be wise to take your midwife's advice on this.
I had planned one for my first DC, but my waters broke at 35+5 as it happens so I got admitted to the antenatal ward!

Sorry, obvs you have her details as you've been messaging her!
Just be sure you've been clear in requesting a home birth kit, so she's aware of that before 36wks, and keep trying to get hold of her to confirm. You'll prob need to collect the pack from the surgery, it was just a large bag when I got mine.

It's likely she's on annual leave, which is why you saw someone different and she hasn't replied.

Can you call the maternity unit to discuss?

FWIW I'm 35 weeks and haven't been asked other than at booking, I don't think it's unusual.

Fwiw a birth plan was never discussed with either of my dc. I don't think it's a priority discussion unless you have specific needs. I would contact the maternity unit to discuss and see what they say and I'm sure your midwife will be in touch with you soon.

Im 36 weeks tomorrow and havent been asked at all about birth plan. My next appointment is 8th jan and ill be 37 weeks then so if i did want a home birth they would have to arrangenit quick! Just keep trying to contact her or the maternity unit as others have said

My midwife went through my birth plan at my 36 week appointment.

My midwife finally got back to me she decided to take last minute annual leave. I just wish she would have just message explain that she would be going on the leave. She is coming next week to my house to discuss a homebirth and that will make me 37 weeks. I'm getting so nervous now xxx
