20 week scan

Hey I don't know if I am worrying over nothing but I wondered if this happened to anyone when they had their 20 week scan.

Me and my partner don't want to know the sex and we told the sonographer this before any checks were made. The lady then commented he has a strong heart beat then she suddenly realised what she said then quickly said or she has a strong heart beat.

I'm now convinced it's a boy and I really wanted it to be a surprised. Did people who didn't find out the sex what did the sonographer refer to the baby as?

I understand Vika1985 point as I found out that my baby was dead at my 20 week scan. Truly worst day of my life.... however you have a healthy baby and in truth no one has actually told you the sex. Enjoy your pregnancy and I look forward to finding out what sex your baby is when you come back and announce it!

Mine was called baby then when we said we knew he was a boy as we did the NIPT she called him a him. I do know someone who this happened to though and she called him a him and she did have a boy. Try not to let it spoil surprise though OP as like others have said it could just be what they call them there :)

Sorry Vika 💐 I also found out just before my 20 week scan by DD had died. Had the scan then had to give birth to my darling girl when she was born they couldn't tell me the sex in case they got it wrong. A big part of me died with her.
Wishing you all the best OP but get a grip they can't said it.

I don't want to know the sex but if I'm told by accident I will be fine with it

Right now I'm having nightmares that they tell me the babies got to be terminated.

Say it

Don't refer to other people's lives as 'shit'. You don't know what terrible things may have happened at theirs or those close to them 20 week scans and next time maybe just pay for a private gender scan if it's particularly important to you and your partner as not all NHS hospitals even tell you the sex.

I had the 20 w scan 8 separate times (the images weren’t saving) and they looked at the heart and other vital organs before looking at the genitalia. So it’s possible the sonographer didn’t know the sex at that point and was just saying ‘he’ as the default.

Sounds like some of you have really been through it ThanksThanks

SummerBambinosMum · 29/12/2018 21:42

No matter the sex of your baby, I really hope you have the balls to apologise for your foul language. No pun intended.

Well aren't you just a fucking delight 🤭

💐💐 for the people who have had real problems raised at the anomaly scan.
