Hey everyone!
I'm currently pregnant nearly 9 weeks with my first baby! I found out so early as my periods were like clockwork

Since then i have been abit sicky but SOOOOOOOO nauseous! the thought of food makes me feel sick and I can barely eat during the day or night or anytime tbh! I have been signed off work because I can't do it! I have cried coz I feel so rubbish

To top it off I have always been 'slim' or skinny however people call it always around 8 stone 4 but I have dropped a stone and o can't do anything - I'm worried I have gone for an early scan and baby is a healthy weight but I'm not and the stress is what I don't want

Any ideas on how I can overcome and start putting on some pounds so I don't look like a bag of bones 🙁

I know eating is off putting but try some plain carbs (pasta, toast, crackers, cereal, etc)- I felt better with food in my stomach but had to force myself to eat thru the nausea and eventually I'd feel better. The trick is to keep eating regularly.

are you drinking enough/keeping fluid down? can you drink smoothies, chocolate milk, milk, yoghurt?

If it is really horrid and you can't cope ask your GP for meds - they should be fine to prescribe an anti-emetic., especially if youre struggling with fluids too.

You need to visit your GP ask for anti-emetics. Visit a website called Pregnancy sickness support, they can give tips on how to help ease symptoms and they have peer support and online forums. There is a lovely thread on MN as well called Hyperemisis support, even if you aren't suffering with it they can guide you through what you are going through.

Congratulations on your baby OP Flowers

Oh also, what helped me to keep going was getting fluids in. So lots of jelly and ice lollies if you can't manage anything else.

Try sipping on iced water. The hg support thread is invaluable for little nuggets like that.
If you cant face water then coke or lemonade over a glass filled with ice will help with getting fluids in.
The nausea is the pits but you really need to eat something every hour or so if you can. Even if its just some cornflakes or some dry crackers or rich tea biccys.

Oh bless, so sorry you're feeling unwell, and also congratulations of course!

I am a similar size to you. Usually size 8 and weight 8 stone 4 pounds. With my second baby I was nauseous just like you, (not being sick though) and had no energy at all, constantly aching. I struggles to eat anything so just stuck to dry crackers and toast and sipped water. My weight dropped to just over 7 stones and I felt and looked awful. I was just about to go to the GP when it went away at around 11 weeks. By the end of my pregnancy I weighed 10 and a half stones and I had a baby weighing almost 10 pounds! So it should pass for you too I hope. But I would definitely recommend visiting your GP for help to be on the safe side. The anti sickness drugs are meant to be very effective I believe.

All the best and hope you're feeling well and blooming soon! X

Baked potato.

Take it from a complete veteran in this regard.

I went to my doctor today and was prescribed prochlorperazine buccal
I've been told it's okay to take however I always feel nervous because I'd rather suffer than risk anything, has anyone taken these!
I've done a home delivery of snacks that I'll make sure I eat on timer. Oz if I don't I'll just put it off

Thank you all so much for replying I felt awful crying over how I looked and felt xx

I haven't had that one, but have a ask on the hyperemisis thread and I'm sure there will be someone knowledgeable there.

My personal opinion, not backed by science or anecdotal evidence, is that it is better to have the anti sickness meds so you can eat and drink enough to stay healthy and not risk dehydration or other side effects.
