Hi,

I was on and off my pill for 2 weeks, I was taking intervals for a few days at a time (but let’s not get into that conversation on why.)

I had sex 24th (Evening) and 25th (Morning) November. I was due on a period 24th but it didn’t arrive, it did however arrive evening time 25th. I bled for a few days and was then spotting, overall, this was 7 days of bleeding.

A week later, I started getting symptoms of nausea, really delicate breasts, fatigue, lower back ache etc. I usually get these symptoms a week before period is due, but it had been going on longer than that. I went to the drs to be tested for a water infection, which came back negative. The Dr told me if I didn’t come on a period and had a negative test, to go back. I took a test Friday 21st December and there was a faint line. I came on what a call my period, later Saturday evening HOWEVER TMI - I had old blood spotting alongside clear jelly discharge and small blood clots. I then went into bleeding heavily for 2 days, then going back to spotting for half a day then it stopped. My periods last roughly 6 days and I know what my bleeds are like. I am rather concerned.

Yesterday morning, I took another and it came back negative. I’m still having cramps, lower back ache, loss of appetite, nausea and fatigue as well as constant bloating. Also, the bottom on my tummy looks swollen. I have had thoughts of being pregnant, but haven’t been thinking much into it. Is there a possibility? I’m going to make a drs appointment as I know there’s something that’s not right with my body.

Has anyone else felt like this before?

Stopping and starting hormones can cause some crazy symptoms. That could be the explanation.

bifflediffle · 27/12/2018 21:07

you need to take the pill reliably

stopping and starting will have fucked up your hormones.

I have been thinking that the pill has messed up with my body, I just don’t understand the positive test.

Before the test - I forgot to mention - the smell of bacon was knocking me ill, cups of tea I couldn’t drink and still can’t, i used mouthwash and it tasted like washing up liquid. There’s just little things that aren’t adding up. I am very confused. I haven’t been on the pill for almost 5 weeks now.

Your body can take up to 12 months to normalise after the pill (but often takes less time).

It's also possible you've had a chemical pregnancy (because you had a positive test followed by a bleed and negative tests). This again can mess up your cycle.

Don't expect your period/ cycle on and off the pill to be the same.

sounds like you could be pregnant...doctor test seems a good plan given all the symptoms.

I'm on the pill and I've been told it can cause false positives, but with your symptoms, pregnancy seems highly likely doesn't it?

Go to the dr. Get a test.

I’m pregnant. And was on the pill using it reliably. 1 in 1000 chance of pregnancy on the pill.

It’s been a bit of a shocker.

Thank you for your responses. This morning I’m feeling more bloated than ever, and have bleeding gums when brushing for the first time with nausea.. Drs trip it is!
