Maternity leave - 10 weeks to go!

Anyone else on a countdown? I'll be 32 weeks when I finish up but taking 5 weeks annual leave then starting mat leave officially at 37 weeks.

I work part time and the rest of the week I look after my 2 year old so I've had zero time to get prepared and can't wait until the couple of days a week DS is at nursery and I can get everything sorted.

My job is so stressful at the moment mat leave really couldn't come soon enough!

I finished on Friday at 33+5. I'm now on annual leave wage until 16th Jan. Looking forward to the post Christmas period so I can relax.

Celebelly · 27/12/2018 13:12

I'm self-employed so can be a bit flexible, but I'm almost 34 weeks now and have just one project to finish up this next week or so and that's me done!

Ah brilliant guys! Hope you manage to make the most of it. I know some people think it's early to stop but it's all circumstantial, and I will definitely be ready to leave come March.

I don’t know when to start mine... I work part time & have my own business so although I’ll be ‘off’ from p/t for maternity leave I’ll still be doing as much as possible with the business. At 28 weeks right now need to decide soon really Confused

I finished the Thursday before Christmas at 36+6 and I'm now realising I don't need to go back to work after the festive period.

Feeling a bit bored if I'm honest!

maddieharrison · 27/12/2018 20:16

I finish on 18th January. I'll be 36 weeks then. I'm going to take four weeks of annual leave and go on maternity on my due date. A friend is due at the same time and she has already left. Every pregnancy is different. Not going to lie though I feel ready to go. Today was horrendous.

I'm 32 weeks tomorrow not due to go off until 26 weeks but I have a docs app tomorrow to look to getting signed off for the last 4 weeks as my job is very full on and I'm really struggling with the 13 hour shifts and 40mins travel to and then the same from work each shift. Driving is so uncomfortable now too so fingers crossed he signs me off so I don't over exhaust myself!! I can't believe how quick this is going now! I'm sure I only just had my booking I'm appointment lol

*36 weeks... not 26 🤦🏼‍♀️

8DaysAWeek · 27/12/2018 22:09

I went on mat leave from 33 weeks with DC1 (technically 36 weeks with a few weeks AL before) and towards the end I did get a teensy bit bored. But I think it was more the anticipation of DS coming. I was waiting for it every day from 37 weeks, and prepared for his arrival well before this. He eventually came at 40+3. I still don't regret taking that much time off though as my work is physically, mentally and emotionally tiring and the 12 hour days were killing me. This time I'm going to assume he won't come earlier than 40 weeks and enjoy my time off with DS as much as possible :)

Im due to start mat leave om 29th jan, but took a weeks AL before hand so technically last day is the 19th, truth be told im counting down the minutes! Feel so unprepared at home, my OH is trying his best but knows I like things done a certain way so anything he does I just end up redoing... and id rather do it 'together' because its 'our' baby you know?

Hes assured me once i leave on 19th we'll get properly sorted... lets hope baby isnt ready ill be 38 weeks then!!

ButterflyBun · 27/12/2018 23:27

Just start my maternity leave at 39 weeks. Started at the same time with my first baby too so was hoping I'd make it as wanted to get paid for as long as possible! Depends how your pregnancy is but I've always felt fine.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 28/12/2018 09:14

12 weeks to go for me! I’ll be 33+5 and taking 4 weeks of AL before maternity starts. Can’t wait!

PurpleFlower1983 · 28/12/2018 15:58

I finish 6 weeks today - I’ll be 36 weeks.

PurpleFlower1983 · 28/12/2018 15:59

Actually 37 weeks! I can’t count! Xmas Grin

user1471426142 · 28/12/2018 16:13

6 more weeks of work. Slightly gutted I just looked it up as I thought it was only 5- boo! It’s going to feel quite hard going back after the Christmas break. Feel like I’ve got into a nice rhythm of morning pottering and afternoon napping.

moleeye · 28/12/2018 16:53

10 weeks for me toooo! Sorted it all out yest

Leaving at 37 weeks, a weeks AL then c section at 38. So I'll have a week to myself whilst my 4YO is at nursery and before the mayhem starts!

So much to do before then. Hoping it goes really slow, have told DP to get a move on!!!
