I’ve recently done a home pregnancy test
That has had a positive result.
I’m 41. I’ve just been reading that apparently if
Your going through the change it can give a positive
Result. Has anyone had any experience with this ?

I’ve not had personal experience with this but it is a possibility particularly with the super sensitive tests. I would test again in a few days and see if the line gets darker. If the positive is down to pre manopause it won’t get stronger like it will if it’s a true pregnancy

Emsie11 · 24/12/2018 18:12

I’ve done several tests all positive but no other pregnancy symptoms.
I’m approaching 6 weeks. But it’s a long time to wait until the scan if not an actual pregnancy

@Emsie11 A positive pregnancy test would normally indicated a pregnancy , is there any reason why you cannot be pregnant? Are you having unprotected sex/TTC? X

Emsie11 · 24/12/2018 18:34

I was concerned it was a false positive and maybe to do with going through early menopause

From my experience, at 42 a pregnancy test reading positive... meant positive and me giving birth at nearly 43... Grin
A wonderful and amazing thing!

41 would be quite early for menopause. I'd say you are more likely to be pregnant unless early MP runs in your family.

This happened to my friend at 45. She turned out to be pregnant and now 22 years later has a lovely grown up son.

Medwaymumofour · 24/12/2018 18:45

I got pregnant at 44. It’s not that uncommon

Emsie11 · 24/12/2018 18:48

I have a doctors appointment but the earliest I could get is Monday. Seams ages away.

I was diagnosed with early menopause at 31 and told we'd have no chance of conceiving. Naturally then when I found out I was pregnant earlier this year I assumed it was a false positive. I'm now 32 weeks and counting the days down till our little one arrives! ☺

My doctor told me that false positives are very rare and that the tests will only pick up HcG when it is present in your body. No pregnancy hormone generally means no positive result. Sounds like you're pregnant to me. Good luck x

RandomMess · 24/12/2018 22:42

False positives are very rare. Multiple positive tests, you are pregnant!!!

tobeornottobe1 · 24/12/2018 23:49

@Emsie11 if your periods have been regular and you are only late this month and therefore you tested I'm nearly certain your pregnant, 🤰x

Courtneybrown · 25/12/2018 09:25

Emsie11 · 25/12/2018 13:23

Thank you everyone for your advice. I will be delighted if I am. Just don’t want to get my hopes up to much until I know there is a healthy pregnancy x
