GTT and Omeprazole - Advice please

Hi, I went for 34 week scan today and they are worried about Abdominal Circumference which is 97 percentile. Despite already having had a full GTT at 21 weeks and a GCT at 28 weeks I'm being sent for another GTT in the morning. I forgot to ask about whether I can take my heartburn medicine (Omeprazole) which I'm on double dosage of before and during the fast.

Been on hold trying to ask the midwife unit for 50 minutes now.... has anyone previously been in this boat and can advise?

My GTT letter says - You should not take any drugs or vitamins on the morning of the tests, Until the second blood sample has been taken.

Thank you, it doesn't mention it on mine isnt that strange. I better not take any then

It would be nice if the NHS did a blanket of information that covers all trusts! It would make it so much easier!
I wouldn't take it personally if you can! Can always speak to them after the first lot of blood has been taken?

Good point, thank you you're right, though I'm not sure the blood nurses will know as they aren't midwives at my hospital. It's not the eating that gets me with the test it's the limited water intake... I usually drink 4/5 litres a day so last time I ended up with a dreadful dehydration headache... and I'm sure my heartburn will be in full flow too! Moan over!

You definitely cannot have your gaviscon and I did not take my omeprazole to be in the safe side. However my heartburn is better when I don’t eat anyway Angry

Thegirlwithnousername · 11/12/2018 20:30

Yeah I hate the not eating, I am getting the shakes by the end of it!
I always suffer with a headache as well :(

Thegirlwithnousername · 14/12/2018 16:37

le42 · 14/12/2018 17:15
