I know I need to seek advice from a doctor but it's 4am and I'm lying here scratching and obviously a little worried! I wanted to see if anyone has had something similar..

I have little lumps on my wrist, which at first I thought might have been a bite but I've woken up and now there are more. I also have one in the following places:
Finger
Hand
Back of my arm
A couple above my ankle
One on my toe
My shoulder

They are so itchy! :(

Anyone have any ideas?

Could it be hives?

SofiaAmes · 30/11/2018 04:30

Two things that I know of that cause hives during pregnancy. One is serious: Cholestasis of pregnancy. This is a condition where intense itching is also accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and potentially jaundice. This condition can indicate there are problems with your liver. Should you see these signs or symptoms, it is important to contact your doctor immediately.

And the other is just irritating as hell (I had it when pregnant with ds): PUPP (pruritic urticarial papules and plagues) of pregnancy. Women that develop PUPP will see outbreaks of red, raised patches on their skin. The first site of the outbreak is generally the abdomen, but women with PUPP can see the condition spread to the arms and legs as well. Women with PUPP sometimes report extreme itching with these outbreaks. Some research points to PUPP being linked to a genetic condition, as it seems to run in families, but ultimately, the cause of PUPP is still unknown. Generally, PUPP happens more often in a woman’s first pregnancy and is rarely seen in subsequent pregnancies.

Hi @hellopeopl3 and @sofiaames thanks for your responses at this ungodly hour!

I think hives are related to allergies and I'm not allergic to anything, but who knows!

I don't feel poorly in anyway so hoping it isn't cholestasis. PUPP could be that although I don't have any on my abdomen. Is it possible to get that in the first trimester.

I can deal with the itching as long as I know the baby will be OK. It's just so random

i had some itchy lumps on my shins that were diagnosed as erythema nodosum. only cause in my case was pregnancy.

I've had 3 babies and I always got little lumps on my hands and feet that itched like hell. Usually worse in the winter. Very annoying but normal.

Have you ruled out flea bites from any pets?

physicskate · 30/11/2018 07:37

But you are aware you can develop allergies, yes? I'm not allergic to anything I know of and I've had hives - it's just an immune response.

Best to get it checked out anyway!!! As it could be something else!
