Cold relief in pregnancy

I can't imagine I will get a response urgently as it is 4am Grin

I have a horrendous cold at 29 weeks pregnant, the cough is the worse and it's made me vomit.

I don't have a pharmacy around me and was going to go to tesco at 6am but what on earth can I get?

I tried Dr Google but sounds like i'll have to ride it out :(

Wouldn't be an issue if people didn't come into work sick but hey ho

Oh commiserations - a cold when you’re pregnant is rotten. I discovered that I hadn’t truly experienced a cold in a long time because pre-pregnancy I would stuff myself with drugs which made it bearable

Some suggestions:
Paracetamol obviously
Steamy shower - should help with the cough
Saline nasal spray
Steam inhalation (you can get menthol chips to dissolve and a sort of mug with a mask that goes over mouth and nose)
Olbas oil
Vicks vaporub
Lemon and honey in hot water

Wishing you better soon

Thanks! That list was super useful.

I will be getting in a steamy shower this morning.

I've got a lemon and honey. I also managed to get some children's cough syrup and saline nasal spray as was the only thing I could find that is safe in pregnancy in the shop.

I used first defence when I was pregnant. I tried to use it at the very first sign of a sniffle and had my first winter without a cold in about 10 years!

I hear you! I'm 39+1 with a horrendous cold. I'm thanking my lucky stars I'm not on a water meter as I'm getting by on 3 x long steamy showers a day and a whole load of olbas oil on my pillow at night. Boots also do throat sweets which are just glycerin.
