Do anti sickness meds work?

Hi, I have horrible nausea and sickness that is becoming really dibilitating, I'm barely functioning let alone at the rate I need to to look after my other children. I'm 9 weeks this week but a scan last week put me a week behind which has upset me more as I know I have this for longer. My question is how effective are the anti sickness meds? My midwife said to ask doc to prescribe but only take when absolutely need them. Why is this if they are totally safe? I struggled through this hell in previous pregnancies without help but honestly I don't feel as strong with so much more on my plate. Is it worth getting the medication and are there risks? Hi, sorry you are suffering, I've had several sickness with my first pregnancy and this current one. Definitely go speak to your gp, there are plenty of safe options to try, you might need to try a few different ones before you find what works for you.

Yes, it works, though for me it just lessened the vomiting not the actual nausea.

They are not 100% clinically proven safe because you can't do trials on pregnant women, but have been used for decades with no ill effects, which is why it can feel like there is a bit of an inconsistency in what hcps tell you.

They worked pretty well for me but some people need to try a couple before finding one that works. But don't suffer unnecessarily - if you're struggling then see your GP!

I’ve been on cyclizine and omeprazole since 8 weeks, and whilst I still feel nauseous and vomit regularly it’s so much better and I can actually function!
