Hi all. Due to complications I am being induced next week at 36 weeks. The dr seemed to stress it could take days and lead to a emergency c section but I wondered if anyone else had been induced at a similar stage and how long it take total?
Thanks xXx

Hi. I was induced at 38 weeks. They did seem to stress the same scenario with myself, I feel like they have to pre warn you about what COULD happen before you agree, just Incase. In my case I was already 1cm dilated on arrival. I was induced on the Friday night with the pessary, they removed the pessary 24 hours later, this didn’t do anything so I had the gel on the Saturday evening which brought on contractions and lost mucus plug, I had to wait until they had room for me on the delivery suite before they could break my waters so I eventually gave birth on the Monday morning so around 3.5 days in total for myself. Had the breaking of my waters not worked, I’d then have been put on hormone drip, and if that fails I think they then perform the c section. So I think in general it depends on the hospital and when you get to the delivery suite. Hope this helps

I was induced at 36 weeks. 4 hours later I was 5cm dilated and having a crash c-section.

I was induced 2 weeks ago tomorrow at 38 weeks. They said I could be in for a day or so as had the 24 hour pessary, it was inserted around 1pm I gave birth at 5:56 that afternoon. The midwife who first examined me said my cervix was high up nowhere near dilated etc (can't remember all the terminology) however once I'd been on the monitor for an hour after the propess being inserted I went for a wander and within 10 minutes was having contractions. It was pretty intense and I went from 4 to 10 cm straight away, only just made it to the labour ward. Best of luck Smile

Induced at 38 weeks. 3cm dilation on admission, given pessary twice. Both times it did nothing, 'rested'for 24 hours then had waters manually broken and given the syntocin drip. Dc3 arrived 30mins later. Was given a brief about c-section after the pessary didn't work. Good luck, try and relax.
