Will my baby be ok??

I know it's probably just me worrying over nothing, but I just wanted to check if anyone can offer any guidance? My washing machine/tumble drier is a piece of shit broken, I went into the kitchen to see that it was pouring with smoke. The whole house is full of acrid smoke, I must have inhaled quite a lot of it, felt I couldn't really breathe at one point. Is this toxic? Will may baby be ok? Reassurance needed!

Your baby will almost certainly be fine, it is protected by the placenta. However, it might be an idea to get yourself checked out if you feel you’ve inhaled a lot of smoke. Is the fire definitely out and has the house been properly aired?

I don't know if it's out, the smoke seems to have stopped but it could be smouldering inside the machine. All doors and windows are open.

I’m not sure where you are and thus what the best course of action might be, but I’m thinking call your local fire brigade for advice? You need to be sure that the fire is properly out, but not via 999 by the sounds of it!

I've called the fire brigade on the non-emergency number, they just said as long as the machine is witched off and it's not smoking any longer, it should be ok Smile

I'm sure it will all be fine, just anxiety getting the better of me.

How far along are you? As pp have said, you would have to inhale an awful lot to be a risk to the baby. If you are in the second trimester+ is the baby moving ok etc?

I'm 17 weeks, haven't really felt baby very much so can't go on that. I feel less worried now, I'm sure it's probably fine Smile thank you.
