First Steps of CVS?

Hi ladies,

I posted a few weeks ago that I'll need to have the CVS testing because of a genetic disorder I have. The hospital didn't make the referral to the specialist hospital I need to go to, so after my midwife appointment this week, she's arranged an emergency referral.

I've been invited to my first appointment with the genetic team on Thursday, at which point I'll be 9+1.

I just wondered if you could share with me what the first appointment was about? I have no idea what to expect. How soon after that appointment was the testing?

At the first appoitment with my genetic counselor we discussed the chances of passing our condtion on, when we could have the testing (if we chose to) if we would want a CVS or amnio. If the pregnancy was effected if we would continue. If we wanted the results via phone or in person, how long results would take.

She was really lovley and I was very anxious. I carry a rare genetic condtion and my oldest son has it, he is severely disabled. I'm pregnant with my 4th baby and none of my other children are effected by the condition. We have a 1 in 4 chance in each pregnancy.

I hope your appointment goes well. X

Thank you, @LBNM19. That's really helpful to know. I'm now wondering if I should be taking DP with me. I'm sure it'll be okay. I'm taking mum who also carries my genetic disorder so she'll know more from what she had to go through with us.

Thank you for responding to me 💜
