Pink bloody mucus

This is my 5th pregnancy. 1 son aged 3 and then 3 miscarriages all between 6-8 weeks. All of my miscarriages have been very similar, really bad back pain, stomach cramps and heavy bleeding. I’m now 7 + 2 weeks pregnant and this morning I got some pink blood when I wiped after using the toilet, then nothing all day, but this evening some pink bloody mucus. I’ve put on a pad and there seems to be no blood in it at all, it’s only when I wipe, is it possible that I’m miscarrying again? I don’t have any cramping, but my breasts are no longer sore, so I’m expecting the worst, but I’m wondering if anyone else has had a normal pregnancy after bloody mucus?

Sorry to hear you're worried OP. It's impossible to tell if you are m/c or not. Have you had sex or a bm today? Straining and sex can cause some bleeding in pregnancy.

I spoke to the EPU and told them I’d been constipated and finally managed to “go” yesterday morning and it’s after that that the bleeding started. They didn’t seem overly bothered, just told me to keep an eye on it, but because it went away and then started again last night, (seems to have almost gone this morning) I just can’t helo but think the worst. I feel like I’m clutching at straws, but I just was hoping to hear of other people’s positive outcomes to make me feel a bit calmer, even though I know that all pregnancies are different 🙁

I had similar at 5 weeks with dd2 and 7 weeks with dd1. Both were fine! Conversely I had heavy bleeding with my actual mc (2 were mmc and zero signs of bleeding).

Thank you, that makes me feel a bit calmer

I’ve had both good and bad outcomes with this. However I will say one thing, after being scanned due to bleeding between 6-8 weeks twice in different pregnancies, everything turned out to be ok at that point I.e good, strong heartbeat seen.

Bleeding before 6 weeks and after 8 has never ended well for me. EPU should be offering to scan you though, I think it’s quite negligent not to scan a woman whose bleeding at this stage in pregnancy!

littlemisskitty88 · 29/10/2018 09:42

I called the EPU this morning and they said because I’ve put a pad on and there is no blood in it at all, only when I wipe (tmi sorry) that there is no need to bring my scan forward. But really early this morning it looked like I passed a really small clot, but they said that unless I’m passing lots of clots and actively bleeding then it’s no cause for concern and not to worry, but obviously I’m worrying, I can’t help but worry.

I too have had both good and bad outcomes in this situation.

I was prescribed progesterone after one baby and then three early miscarriages in a row, could you have your levels checked? My following pregnancy was successful.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 29/10/2018 10:12

@littlemisskitty I passed some teeny tiny clots during my last pregnancy (which did unfortunately end in M/C but not at this point - we think it may have been slapped cheek that caused the M/C later on)

They should be scanning you to rule out ectopic pregnancy!

I had this a few weeks ago. Had a scan and saw a heartbeat at 8 weeks. I had a bad cough and had been sick and they said that I may have broken a blood vessel. Currently awaiting my 12 week scan but a'll seems ok.

littlemisskitty88 · 29/10/2018 11:15

I had a scan 10 days ago due to my previous m/c’s and they saw a gestational sac and yolk sac then and ruled out ectopic. They said they’re not concerned at the moment due to me having no pain and no active bleeding, just mucus and the one small clot. I’ve also had a really chesty cold the past few days and been coughing a lot, so maybe it is something of nothing, but I’m just so scared that it could be the start of yet another m/c and no one seems to be able to work out why I keep having them

I would demand I get seen. Or go for a private scan x

littlemisskitty88 · 29/10/2018 19:58

Update; started bleeding with a few more clots this afternoon, so went to hospital and got scanned, cervix is closed and little bean inside with a heartbeat, so the bleeding is unexplained at the moment 🤷‍♀️

Fantastic news about your little bean and the heartbeat!

The bleeding is still unnerving though but sometimes there’s just no explaination!

I had similar. Didn’t get referred for a scan so paid for private. The person that did the scan is a midwife and said that she could see a hematoma which was most likely where it was coming from. She does a lot of work with the nhs still and said they don’t tend to tell people if they have one because it can cause more worry but she said she finds it’s better to be honest as they don’t usually cause problems and it can set people minds at ease. I mentioned it at my 12 week nhs scan and she put it in my notes but I think that was only because I mentioned and questioned it.
Glad to hear you’ve been seen. My son is now 5 months old so it turned out OK. Good Luck with your pregnancy.
