... and it hasn't taken forever? I was induced with dc1 for PE at 38 weeks and it took 3 days. had dc2 naturally and took 8 hours. being induced a week today at 37 weeks for placenta problems and slow growth but really getting worried its going to be a long process with me only being 37 weeks.

I think I was 0cm when I was induced at 40 weeks, I didn't get past 2cm after 48 hours (24 of that on the drip) and asked for a section.
I had a big baby though (first pregnancy) so I suspect that played a part.

Thegirlhasnoname · 22/10/2018 10:14

I was induced at 36+6 at 0cm. Happened just before lunch time and had baby via emergency section at 9.24 that evening. Before section though I had got to 4cm, with them able to stretch to 6cm, so it doesn’t always necessarily take that long.

Good luck!

I had a ‘good’ induction experience.
They gave me pessary for induction at 11.30am, 0cm dilated. Started getting period type pains within an hour. By about 4pm contractions we pretty constant and painful but manageable. Was examined at 5.30pm, 7cm dilated. Baby born at 7.04 :) xx

BlingLoving · 22/10/2018 12:54

It's completely random how quickly it will go. Was induced with both of mine. First one was like a rocket - went into labour within an hour and DS appeared 7 hours later. With DD was sitting around doing nothing for 3 days.....

So I think all you can do is get the induction and hope for the best.

SolitaA · 22/10/2018 13:27

Thank you. Its just getting close now and I am starting to worry about it all. With dd1 it was a there and then thing I was sent to hospital from midwife apt and within 30 mins I had a pessary in. So Ive never had to sit in anticipation before. I just worry that at 37 weeks my body will be nowhere near ready.

"Not even close to ready, I'm afraid... this will probably take a few days" exact words of the midwife that inserting the prostaglandin gel at around 1400, I was 39 weeks. Nothing happened until midnight then I went from nothing to 7cm in less than 20 minutes. Actual labour was 5hrs 45 minutes.

Original Midwife hilarious when she came in for the morning shift to me sat there with ds. She certainly didn't expect that.

Looneytune253 · 22/10/2018 14:37

YES!! I was induced a week early. Had pessary overnight and because the machine was picking up some contractions they didn’t want to give any more. She examined me and I wasn’t dilated but she decided to break my waters anyway and happened super fast after that. Well under 3 hrs.

Kinda depends on your Bishops Score; you could be 0cm but very effaced and with a thinned ripe cervix. Those are the type of conditions that would probably equate to an effective induction rather than for someone who is 0cm and has a high up, tightly closed cervix.

The doctor will know your score. If it’s zero emtally prepare for a long road x

Seeming like this is going to be me! 41 weeks today and the dr is talking about inducing me on Friday. Attempted a sweep yesterday but was a no go as I'm still at 0cm. Going to try another one tomorrow. Hoping if u do have to be induced it goes quick!

sparkles212 · 23/10/2018 06:41

I was induced at 38+4 and went from 3cm to fully dialated in less than an hour and was wizzed down to delivery. I was 1cm when I first went in and it took a few hours to get to 3cm then it just went mental very fast. Still in a bit of shock a week later!

StUmbrageinSkelt · 23/10/2018 07:03

I've been induced twice with Bishops scores of 0 cm and high up tight cervix.

First time had two lots of gel, was in labour in the next 12 hours and delivered in 6 hours of active labour.

Second time had two lots of gel, started at 10am, in established labour 1am the next morning and delivered at 8am.

SolitaA · 23/10/2018 07:18

Thanks for your responses everyone. I see it really does just depend. I am getting lots of cramps and backache so hoping thats my cervix getting ready but its so hard to tell, could just be end of pregnancy aches. I don't think I am mentally prepared for any of this. Still seems surreal thats this time next week i could be holding my baby 😱

My experience was nearly exactly the same as @Formally but I had sweep instead. Midwife said I was half a centimetre and would be days yet. I cried- I was so ready to meet her. She was born 8:31 the next morning.

SolitaA · 23/10/2018 08:39

Also weird question ... 🤣
I am having lots of braxton hicks and have done for weeks, but the last few days when I have 1 my boobs leak a ridiculous ampunt at the same time 🤣 is this normal??

I was 0cm. Induced at 38 weeks due to obstetric cholestasis. I had my first pessary at 4pm Sunday was in active labour by 12pm on the Monday & DD born by 9.30pm.

Abilouise · 23/10/2018 12:10

I was induced at 38+1 because of preeclampsia and PIH. I had the pessary in at 5:50am on the 23rd August and on the 24th August 6am I welcomed my baby into the world.i had the hormone drip and my waters broken for me. Good luck

tiredmamma1 · 23/10/2018 16:35

I was induced at 38 weeks as I had GD. Was examined and my cervix was not favourable. Had the pessary at 2:30pm, started getting contractions at 10pm and baby was born the next morning at 11:12am. I was in established labour for 6.5 hours and it was a great experience! Good luck x

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 23/10/2018 19:54

How you getting on @SolitaA ?

E20mom · 23/10/2018 20:07

Yes last year. And it only took 2 hours!

SolitaA · 23/10/2018 20:38

Well I am currently sat here timing what I assume are BH but they are getting more regular with pains in my back and down my legs. So hoping I wont be starting from 0cm anyway! Think its the baby heading into position.

I was induced at 37 weeks at 9am. And my little one was born at 37+2 at 7:59am so it was a fairly slow process. It'll most likely be quicker this time as your body already knows what to do

Soapaddict18 · 23/10/2018 21:01

I was 37 weeks when I was induced due to suspected placenta problems. I was 0cm. I was given pessary at 11am on the Tuesday and it took 3 pessaries and they broke my waters at 9am on Wed. I was out on a drip at 11am and my little boy was born at 7.59pm xxx
