being induced in 10 days soon as i hit 37 weeks due to slow growth. If they have estimated 4lb 14oz today at 35+5 then how much should I expect her to weigh at 37 weeks?

It's said that on average they pack on half a lb a week but obviously that's just an average and every baby is different. She's 4lb14oz (that would be exactly 5lb I believe) If that was the case then possibly 5lb 7 ish?

Wishing you lots of luck with your little one Thanks

beccii161016 · 19/10/2018 18:03

Sorry of course it isn't exactly 5lb im claiming baby brain Grin

In that case, 5lb 5 onwards would be an estimate based on average growth rates x

thank you! so may invest in some tiny baby clothing then! the 9lb stuff may drown her 🙈

Oh bless her! Definitely get some tiny baby. My DS was 6lb4 and short. Tiny baby is only supposedly up to 5.7lb but he was in that size for 3-4 weeks! If she's a tall lady she might squeeze into newborn! x

tinytemper66 · 19/10/2018 18:21

At 32 weeks mine weighed 4 10 then when born at 34 he was 5 4oz and then when he should have been due 6 weeks later was due he weighed 6lbs 7oz.

MrsL2016 · 19/10/2018 18:25

Growth scans aren't always accurate and there is some room for error. My friend was given a weight of 7lb at 38 weeks and baby was 6lb 12oz at 40+2. I think maybe a few things in first size and small baby just in case and then hopefully newborn will fit in a couple of weeks.

SolitaA · 19/10/2018 19:00

yea my ds was estimated at 9lb 8oz and was born 8lb 3oz so I know she could come out bigger but also slightly worried she could come out smaller.

Just make you or someone get to the shops e.g. large 24 hour supermarket that sells baby clothes as growth scans are inaccurate. I looked it up and the research gave between 10-15% on average. Anyway I was told my baby was 5lb 5 at 36 weeks and they were never worried about her growth rate. She was born at just under 6lb.

Oh and shop sizes for baby clothes like adult clothes are very random.

Lou573 · 19/10/2018 19:32

Similar here, although mine was even tinier at 37 weeks. Growth scan saying 5lbs, wildly overestimated!

Aprilislonggone · 19/10/2018 19:33

The saying goes 'an ounce a day except Sunday' worked out exact when ds was born!! 35 weeks at 5-7!!

Sideofthelake · 19/10/2018 19:47

Do you mind if I ask if this is your first growth scan? I’m having them fortnightly - next one on Monday.
How much had your baby gained from 33 weeks to 35?

cocoallure · 19/10/2018 20:02

I was told DD was 5lb the week before I had her, she was 9lb 🙄

Lolly86 · 19/10/2018 20:04

My growth scan said 5lb5oz...she was born the next day EMCS 4lb6oz

Olivo · 19/10/2018 20:07

My scan scan said 9lb 2 , she was 7lb 2. She wore tiny baby cloth3 for about 2 weeks, the newborn one swamped her.

SolitaA · 19/10/2018 20:26

@sideofthelake I have had them since 28 weeks. At my last scan 2 weeks ago she was 4lb 4oz. so that will have been 33+5 weeks. Bit nervous about induction too anyone any advice? I will only be 37 weeks so I imagine my cervix will be clamped shut 🙈

DD was born at 40 weeks and 7lb 6oz, tiny baby stuff fit her the best and for a couple of weeks! I bought all 0-3 months as she was predicted to be 9lb+ , we had to rush out and buy newborn and she got a couple of tiny baby stuff bought too. Definitely go for tiny baby.

Sideofthelake · 19/10/2018 20:43

Ah thankyou! My little one was 3lb 7 at the 33 week scan.. I was hoping she’d be near 5lb on Monday as it’s been two weeks but think I’m maybe being ambitious then!
Hope everything goes well for you xxx

SolitaA · 19/10/2018 20:51

good luck! i think my growth had slowed though in the 2 weeks so you never know!

I was in exactly the same position with my DS. I was told I had to be induced at 37 weeks as he was small (the same weight as yours is measuring) but he came of his own accord at 37 weeks weighing a healthy 6lb 4. Still considered a small baby by today's standard but not as teeny as they had expected :) He wore tiny baby for a month, then newborn for the first 4 months. We got so much wear out of his early clothes
