Hello ladies...

I am 39 weeks pregnant and I was just wondering if anyone had any feelings before labour/contractions started or before your waters broke. Did you have any warnings or signs beforehand, I know it happens without warning for most but I was just wondering if any of you did have a warning or a feeling?

Also if any of you wouldn't mind sharing your birth/labour stories with me, I would love that, as I am nearing the end I am getting more and more terrified of the whole process and the horror stories people are telling me are making it worse, I am getting a lot of the "Oh my god, it's going to hurt you like hell" Or " Are you scared, you should be, it hurts so much. It's going to be horrible" I am having a home birth & I am strongly passionate about hypnobirthing so I am hoping that will help me through

Many thanks in advance & sorry for all the questions haha..

I wanted a homebirth, but I lived an hour away from the hospital and there was a risk she was small, plus I needed antibiotics during labour.
But anyway!
My early warnings were just mild cramps, not really uncomfortable but happened from 6am ish and then only figured it was labour at about 11pm when they were every 6-3minutes (never got any closer or lasted longer than 20/30seconds) and then waters broke and that was that, I tried for a poop because I was terrifies of pooping in labour, didn't need one, got in the car and dh drove, got there at 1am, got checked.
I can't remember if I was 4 or 6cm, was offered a sweep and took it, needed gas and air for the damn iv. I don't think she put it in right and was the most painful of the labour process, made my hand numb for a week.
Got to the labour ward, dh put the plugs in the bath (wanted a water birth) and turned on the tap, I told him to get a midwife, I need to push, he thought I was joking, delivered her at 3.06am (39+4)
Her heart rate dropped and they put me on a monitor and wanted to do an episiotomy but I refused it, delivered with gas and air only because I hated the pain of the contraction down my leg, but barely used it because I also hated gas and air.
Contractions weren't painful just uncomfortable and never felt the ring of fire, just a lot of pressure.
Don't be scared of other stories!!
A lot of people have great births!
Good luck!

My first was a strange one...
It was actually my dad who said "You're in labour" I had no idea at all.
I lived with my parents at the time and he said that my snoring was louder than usual and it sounded like I had a really broken sleep. I didn't really notice but I had got up and gone down stairs an hour or two earlier than usual. I couldn't help but laugh at him, more so because it was 10 days early 2 hours later contractions made themselves known.
But my mum had also said that she had noticed my skin had changed too. Like I lost my glow the day before.
The only thing I noticed but only because I have thought about it was I had a lot of energy the day before.
The labour was from the first contraction I felt 14 hours, and even at 17 I said I'd do it again.

My second my waters broke very slightly so it was just a trickle. But no contractions. This was 10 days late and my skin was the give away again, not sure if it's because I was looking out for signs though. I did have to be induced as the contractions hadn't started within 24 hours and my labour was 2 hours, I'd take the 14 hours any day. I said I'd never do it again after that.

But all going well ..I'll be doing it again in May haha

In a nutshell, not really many signs just really my skin going a bit rubbish and my energy levels going up a bit.

Lilbear14 that is what i have been told that I am snoring so loud latley, but broken sleep and the energy levels sounds like me, I have scrubbed my house top to bottom, every day for the past week I just keep cleaning everything 3-4 times a day, I even went round my mum's and completely clean through her kitchen, all the tiles, cupboards, on my hand and knees scrubbing the floors but I have got too the point where even someone leaving a spoon in my sink makes me feel unsettled like one spoon has made the whole kitchen dirty again haha, hating feeling like I need to constantly clean but my house has never been so spotless lol..

I got really really stroppy, like to the extent I didn’t even want to be around myself Grin. I was incredibly restless, wanted to be up and about buzzing around as much as I possibly could and the nesting urges became unbearable. I remember waking up at 4am to pee one morning and I decided to scrub the bathroom from top to bottom Confused.

For birth stories that won’t scare you check out the Birth Hour podcast on Spotify. It’s American but I’ve found it really helpful for demystifying the whole process. If you go to birthour.com there are also some good resources etc. Better than listening to people’s horror stories.

With my second nesting started about 2 weeks before my due date. I was painting walls the lot. Everyone had thought I had gone mad!
I'm pregnant with my OHs first and he has no idea what to expect, I actually feel more nervous for him than I do myself. But he can't wait for me to go onto nesting mode because at the moment i'm like a slob.
