How much weight gain at 15 weeks?

I've got to be careful this pregnancy as I'm already quite overweight not having lost much of my previous baby weight gain! I had just started slimming world and lost half a stone but then got pregnant. I don't see how I can get back in it. I still have severe nausea for which I take meds and eat carbs! :)

I have put on six pounds already and the nhs website thinks that's too much. For those who haven't put this much on please explain how you control your hunger or make healthy choices, especially with nausea! I can't eat much meat and haven't touched fish.

To be honest, nausea was bad whether I ate not, so I didn't unless I was hungry. But everyone is different. I went off all my usual foods so it was fairly easy. My appetite is only just getting back to normal at 23 weeks.

My advice would be to try and be found, but wait until the nausea has stopped then work on it and consider going back to slimming world if it was working for you.

Thank you. It seems to help me to eat lol. I'm trying though to not go for the carbs and trying to nibble on crackers and nuts (fattening too).!

I'm 14 weeks Tuesday and I've lost a pound but last time I lost a stone so it's just how I do the first trimester! I've not been eating normally because I'm off food and haven't felt well.

Treaclepie19 · 07/10/2018 20:37

Oh I've found apple good for nausea!

Notquiteagandt · 07/10/2018 20:39

Im 2 pounds heavier than my prepregnancy weight. But I lost a stone in 1st trimester. So technically now at 20w ive put on 1st 2pounds.

Notquiteagandt · 07/10/2018 20:40

I cant find guidance on the nhs website. Im curious. Do u have a link? Thanks

Dalesgirl16 · 08/10/2018 08:29

Sorry it wasn't nhs it was this :

I will buy apples today as carbs are too fattening.

Carbs are NOT fattening and apples are carbs anyway. Eating too many calories is what is fattening.

1g of carbohydrate has 4 calories, same as protein. As far as weight gain goes, it doesn't matter whether your calories come from carbs, fat, or protein. Ideally, you should have a balance of all 3, especially during pregnancy.

Daisy2990 · 08/10/2018 11:20

Apples are basically all sugar -- that's not going to solve your problem.
If you want to avoid carbs, you need to eat salad vegetables, berries, and protein.

Dalesgirl16 · 08/10/2018 11:38

I'm going to really try. I have such bad nausea that meat makes me sick even with the medication. I will make myself eat more vegetables as I normally would, if nothing else.

I'm 20 weeks, weighed 8st when I found out I was pregnant, now weigh 9st 5lb, so way over what I should have put on by now, BUT pre-pregnancy I was naughty in regards to meals, I never ate breakfast, 4 days a week (days off from work) would skip lunch or just snack on the go as always seem too busy to sit and eat, so to go from that to consciously making sure I'm eating 3 meals a day (for baby's benefit) I suppose it was obvious I'd gain a hefty amount. I think just try to stick to 'everything in moderation' and try to keep as active as possible- I've been power walking 2 miles at a time and also am kept busy running round after a boisterous nearly 3 year old lol

Dalesgirl16 · 08/10/2018 16:14

I would love to ever be 8 stones!

I reckon I have put on loads and not even 13 wks yet! Feel sick so eat carbs...I can’t stop eating carbs!! I couldn’t touch veg or fish and used to eat really healthy so it’s annoying!! I did put on tons of weight with my first but lost it after so will do the same and hopefully when I feel better I won’t eat so much!! X

Dalesgirl16 · 10/10/2018 08:41

You've motivated me to give slimming world a go as soon as nausea ends!

HugoBearsMummy · 11/10/2018 13:19

LOL! I am short though, 5ft, so always been pretty small. I was the same as Creas35, felt sick all the time (like a hangover) till 14 weeks and craved anything 'beige' (crisps, bread, pasta) so most of the weight gain definitely happened in those weeks.

snuggs · 11/10/2018 23:05

I'm eleven weeks and no weight gain so far. My BMI is 25 so the top end of healthy. I've always tracked calories so stick with my average 1600 a day. I've followed the Americans advice. Only 1-4 lbs extra if I can help it in 1st trimester and then 0.5-1lb gain per week thereafter. Again I'm at the top of healthy so only probably only need to gain 0.5lb per week to stay in the healthy gain range. But everyone's different. It could go haywire in the 2nd trimester!

LittleDoveLove · 12/10/2018 09:19

I'm 14 weeks and I've put on 5lb. Eating was the only thing that stopped the nausea!

gingergnome · 12/10/2018 09:44

I'm 14 weeks and have put on 6-7lbs
Basically if it wasn't protein or carbs and lots of it in trimester 1 I felt absolutely awful. The last 1-2 weeks I've not put any extra weight on.

I just tried to make healthy choices where I could and just go with the flow where I couldn't. I knew I wasn't being greedy for the sake of it and figured I would just deal with the weight after baby arrives. In the last week or so I've started to be able to make healthier choices hence the weight not going on as much now.

To echo others - carbs are not the enemy. You need them for energy -and heaven knows you need that when growing a human! You can try to make sure the carbs you are getting are complex - so less of the white ones and more of the brown/wholemeal ones. NHS recommends 50% of your meal to be carb based.

Loulou85x · 16/10/2018 07:33

I put on a stone in the first 12 weeks and then it slowed down a bit in the middle. I'm now about 2st 4lbs at 29 weeks

doodles1234 · 18/10/2018 09:33

Hi OK, at 13 weeks is out on a 1lb, I have had night sickness so have ate and ate and ate all day then at night not ate much as I be been feeling too I'll or actually sick.

I'm now nearly 18 weeks and haven't been weighed but all my clothes still fit so am assuming that I haven't put on that much since.

Apple's help greatly with my sickness and snack on them all day and night choosing the fruit packs from supermarkets or just normal Apple's, if I drink anything it's water - most other drinks make me feel unwell.

I try and have porridge in the morning to fill me up and then go from there eating whatever I fancy that I think I can keep down.

Good luck x

Dalesgirl16 · 20/10/2018 18:26

I'm on holiday and every where serves huge portions. Dread weighing myself when I get home. I feel huge and unfit
