Hi,

Struggled to find best place to post this qu and decided to go with pregnancy board...

I'm 3 month postpartum and the skin on my tummy is v loose. It looks ok when I'm stood up but wrinkly when I sit down.

For anyone reading who has had a pregnancy before, can I expect the skin to get any better in time or is this probably as good as it will get?

Thanks!

It takes approximately 12months until it's as good as itsk going to get, but to be honest, mine looked no better at 12months than at 3months.

Had my dd in August last year, my stomach was absolutely ruined with stretch marks, I was a size 8 before well toned and now have such saggy skin that I can't get to tone, they say after a year you should be back to normal but I'm still trying. Really gets me down x

Tracey Anderson mat floor workout, there is a 5 min ab section, v different type of ab work but it is amazing and also designed to bring the skin into the body to improve loose skin. After two weeks of doing it daily I had definition in my stomach and after 6 weeks I could sit down and it be totally flat. This s is amazing and only takes about 5-6 minutes.
Her stuff is really about toning so not sure how it will work if you have loads of weight to lose but certainly worth a try.

I'm 5 months post DS who absolutely destroyed my stomach Confused my stretch marks are definitely starting to fade already to a silvery color but the skin on my stomach is very loose! I've just started back exercising but hold no hope that my stomach will ever be the same again! I think it comes down to genetics, some people regain some people don't! Don't be too hard on yourself and give it a year before you panic.

Definitely genetic influence.
I had flabbier skin for months after dd, but no stretch marks and wasn't huge tbh, so not sure if it's the same flabbier type of skin you refer to or more just extra baby weight.
But I didn't really lose it and get back to normal minus the tone until nearing 8-10months postpartum.
Saying that, my sister who had her kids younger than I did, was the same size, had stretch marks and excess skin and it never went away.
I think it takes a strong person to learn to love their new body after baby, wishing you all the best!

I was a very thin size 8 when I got pregnant (just got married so was v toned after a pre-wedding health kick), my stomach was ruined, the skin is stretched & baggy with an outie belly button, it’s hideous, I’m so self conscious of it. I had my baby nearly 4 years ago and although I’m the same weight as before & toned in other areas my stomach is awful. Just need to hope I win the lottery so I can have a tummy tuck!!!
Fingers crossed you won’t be the same x

@desperatesux workouts can't tighten loose skin. They could improve the look of stomach with stronger stomach muscles. Less fat would also improve the definition which could be achieved via diet and/or exercise.

Op it's very soon. Don't panic it will improve a bit. 9 month to grow, 9 months to get back. It won't be the same, but that's unfortunately just luck. Don't rush this.

I'd recommend Pilates classes or 1-2-1, but instructors classes can do you more harm than good, so I'd look up Body Control Pilates teachers. Their training is very thorough.

Personally I'd wait a while, enough your baby don't worry for a bit.

I'm not the same weight as before either l. I could try to get back and I wouldn't have masses to loose but it's not my priority. I want to be healthy and enjoy my children. I don't worry so much about my body, but it's certainly worth doing some exercise ( and getting some space ) for your mental health long term.

Broom I'm just saying what it did for me. I have a stomach better than most who have never had kids and I had 3 9 pound plus babies

I am not talking about skin that reaches down to your knees but it did tone up my loose skin. I would try it, it won't hurt anyway and anyone I know who has actually done it thinks it is amazing and takes five mins !!

Have you got a link to the workout please desparatesux?

Here its about 47 minutes in

You need to watch it a few times first as she goes fast through it. You need to do it everyday, I noticed a huge difference two weeks in and after 6 weeks you should see a massive improvement. it is hard and at the start even though its only about 5/6 minutes I needed to stop a few times but you get used to it quickly. I have done every form of exercise from Kettlebells to reformer Pilates and this one made the most difference the quickest. Will also shrink your waist.
