Am I Pregnant ?

So here goes...

I had my daughter in 2016, I found out when I was 6 months preg! It was a shock for me and my partner however we coped - even with her also being 6 weeks early! We were in and out of hospital pretty quick, I went in on Tuesday gave birth on Thursday and we both came home on Sunday 😁 > (I PUT IT DOWN TO BREASTFEEDING!!!) (I only breastfed for about 6 weeks but as they say every little helps 🤣)

So anyway, I suffered with post natal depression after I had her I think it was the whirlwind that consumed me, I ended up falling pregnant quite quickly afterwards (she was about 4 months old) and I had a termination 😔 Pleased don't judge - - I was an 18 year old first time mum with a boyfriend who didn't know how to cope with everything, I had postnatal depression and a young tiny baby! Anyway, after having a termination I got the implant fitted. I had it in from August 2016 - end of March 2018. I had it taken out because it made me put on 3 stone. I have stretch marks all over my legs and hips (I didn't get stretch marks when I was pregnant, I was 9 stone 2lbs when I gave birth to a 5lbs 1oz baby!!!)

So I had it taken out and was told it would be a while before my periods went back to normal - SO TRUE!! I was put straight onto cerelle after taking implant out, but decided to come off it to see if I got my period at the beginning of August. I had my first period after the implant in mid August this year (5 months after having implant removed). I don't think I've been happier to be greeted by Mother Nature before 🤣

So me and my partner decided we'd like to have another baby - jobs are going well etc so it's the right time for us, and my daughter is a nice age for a gap to be. So we began to have unprotected sex - not often but whenever we could (we're not in a rush to get pregnant, but if it happens we will be happy). I went to the doctors to discuss this, along with some other issues I've been experiencing - bloating, hair growth on chest, rapid weight gain, irregular periods. I was gobsmacked that they told me it sounds as though I have polycystic ovaries. I had an internal exam and everything looked fine. But she has referred me for an ultrasound on my ovaries in 3 months time. I was told me fertility rate is at about 30% 😭

Anyway my partner and I decided to start trying still and see what happened. I got a period tracker app on my phone and after inputting the details of my period this month (September) it calculated I have a 34 day cycle.

My period this month was from 16th-23rd. I had unprotected sex on the 3rd, 11th and 16th of September. My period was VERY heavy this month and I suffered terrible cramps - worst I've had since I was about 15.

Anyway I came off my period on the 23rd but this week (25th) I started spotting again. Pinkish/brownish blood when I wiped. This has continued until today (not heavy, I've only had to wear a panty liner and there's not a constant flow). I did 2 ovulation tests on 27th (yesterday) and both were strong positive. I did a pregnancy test last night at around 8pm. It had one strong line and one very faint one. My partner told me to wait and do another this morning so I did - and again same result. (I have posted pics, pink is last night, purple is this morning)

Do you think I'm pregnant?

I have had a lot of bloating recently, I've been suffering with acid reflux and I've had really bad cramp in my legs. Are these symptoms?

If I am pregnant surely I can't be more than a few days? 😱

Can anyone help pls?

Thank you!! X

What2doH2 · 28/09/2018 11:16

When pregnant with my son I must have been only around 2 weeks pregnant when doing the test and I had the same thing one strong line and one faint line.
Fingers crossed for you Smile

Happymum73058 · 28/09/2018 11:19

@What2doH2

The line is clear but faint on both. I'm going to retest in a couple of weeks. I have not long come off my period tho - could I have fell pregnant whilst on my period? I am still bleeding today - not heavily but it's blood red. Could this just be implantation?

Wish I could attach all pics but I can't until I have been a member for 48 hours!! 😩😩

With hpt kits one line is usually stronger than the other - means a +still!!

Happymum73058 · 28/09/2018 11:25

@Aprilshowersnowastorm thank you for your feedback! I'm really worried as I am bleeding now and have got my hopes up that I may be pregnant. I'm always wondering when could I have got pregnant? I had unprotected sex on-

3rd, 11th, 16th, 26th & 27th of this month. I had my period from 16th - 21st. Could I have fell pregnant on my period?

What2doH2 · 28/09/2018 14:18

@Happymum73058 I think there might be a good chance you are pregnant because the same happened with me but I had been off my period around 10 days. Have you tried a clearblue test? They was the best for me as they say pregnant not pregnant on them.
Let me know how it goes x

Happymum73058 · 28/09/2018 16:55

@What2doH2 I have ordered one online which should be here Monday. I am still bleeding today but I did another test this aft and that had the same result as the others (one strong line, one faint) will post all pics when I am able to x

@kalithea @What2doH2

Hi girls

Had a negative test last night and this morning. Went to docs this afternoon and their test was also negative. They think I had an early miscarriage 😔 really upset but everything happens for a reason. ❤️

Unfortunately I think that's a chemical. Seems exactly like mine was.

Aprilislonggone · 01/10/2018 19:59

Ah sorry op, chemicals are nature's sickest trick.
Don't let it deter you, stay positive, ttc is a minefield..

What2doH2 · 01/10/2018 20:32

@Happymum73058
Sorry to hear this sending lots of love and hugs! Keep your chin up and try again when your ready.
This happened to me before I had my son. I misscarried in the may and I tried again soon after and got pregnant with my son in the August xx

Sophsoph23 · 01/10/2018 22:46

So two lines apeard on my pregnancy test and the test line is lighter than the control line am I pregnant!

overagain · 01/10/2018 23:00

@Sophsoph23 it's bad form to take over someone's thread, start your own. And on this one in particular its very insensitive of you.

MrsStrowman · 02/10/2018 07:52

Sorry to hear your news OP, just wanted to say I've had PCOS since I was 18 (now 34), as hard as it is to lose weight, trust me I know that struggle, it really makes a difference if you can get your BMI to the lower half of healthy, my symptoms reduced a bit , but also having been told due to the severity I'd need fertility treatment I fell pregnant within weeks of coming off the pill and thankfully it was a sticky one. Your body is likely to be insulin resistant, so avoid processed sugars and simple, white carbs where possible. I kept to 1250 calories a day, mainly protein, veg and complex carbs and exercised at the gym three to four times a week, once I got the extra weight off I could have the odd cheat day and would only go to the gym twice a week and one run to maintain. There's a really supportive forum called soul cysters for more specific advice and support, also a section around TTC. Good luck!

ladycarlotta · 02/10/2018 11:14

I'm so sorry about your chemical pregnancy - such a nasty thing to happen, but do take heart that it means you are ovulating and can conceive.

I have PCOS myself and have found that GPs tend to be quite ignorant about it. I also was told I'd struggle to conceive - I think the main thing is that polycystic ovaries is a bit of a misnomer, as they are a symptom of the disorder rather than the root cause. It's more to do with metabolism and how effectively your body responds to insulin; people with PCOS might have cysts on their ovaries and irregular periods, but for plenty of people that isn't the main symptom.

I found it helped to regulate my diet, lose weight and do more exercise (having more muscle improves your metabolism). I try to have a low-GI diet for the most part - if you google PCOS diets you'll get loads of guidance and there's a good community out there - I also took myo-inositol which really helped with my weight loss. It's not a quick fix, but I found that with PCOS I could eat very little and still not lose weight - I even gained it - whereas when taking myo-inositol it was like that maths of calories in/calories out was actually working like it should with a healthy diet.

I guess I'm saying don't be disheartened! You've totally got this. Start making healthy, informed changes and if you still struggle there is more medical help you can ask for. For the record, I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant and conceived naturally after being told by my GP that this was unlikely to happen for me. Good luck!

RedWineAllMine · 02/10/2018 11:47

That looks and sounds like chemical pregnancy - where you do get a positive as you are pregnant but the early pregnancy fails so results in a late period. I've had many of these but currently successfully pregnant at 26 weeks now.

babydust1993 · 02/10/2018 19:38

I have a “am I pregnant” question too, driving myself mad. I’ve got a 9 month old but I’ve had a few very very faint HPT and just never sure if they’re evap lines or not. Only reason I took one today is (this will sound stupid) because I look really pregnant. Like over the past couple of weeks my clothes have felt tighter and my boss at work made a joke about my belly hoping I’m not preg again. Hmm. Ive got no real symptoms besides headache, tired, so hungry, and odd heartburn (never get it unless preg). Advice?

overagain · 02/10/2018 20:08

babydust1993 start your own thread. OP has had a chemical pregnancy. It's insensitive to latch on to the back of a thread when you clearly haven't read the whole thread.

babydust1993 · 02/10/2018 20:29

Sorry I’m new here I don’t know how these threads work. I’ve had a chemical and a miscarriage so I know how OP feels. Really sorry to be insensitive that wasn’t my intention

Happymum73058 · 02/10/2018 23:09

@overagain I've been researching and I think that's exactly what it was. 😔 My condolences to you xx

@Aprilislonggone you're totally right - chemical pregnancies are nature's worst joke. Awful thing to go through 😔 really disheartened I started to get really excited at the prospect of being pregnant again 🙈

@What2doH2 thank you so much lovely! Really means a lot hearing that somebody else has been thru what I have and managed to conceive so soon again - I hope the same will happen to me. At least one good thing from it I have realised how ready my partner and I are for another child ❤️

@MrsStrowman the weight thing is the worst!! I struggle so much I used to be so fit, I was only 9stone 2lbs when 6 months pregnant! I am now overweight and almost 13 stone which is obese when my bmi is calculated. Thank you so much for the kind words and advice it really means a lot xx

@ladycarlotta very true that's the best thing to come out of this, that i am in fact fertile! You're very right that GP's are very ignorant about it. I didn't receive much support just 'yes it sounds like you've got it so we will refer you for an ultrasound which will be in december'. Thank you for all your advice and kind words tho ❤️ x

@RedWineAllMine it's not a nice experience is it 😔 I'm glad to hear your pregnancy is going well 🤞🏽 all my love and luck to you! X
