Will I ever go into labour??

40+3 and no sign of baby - first time mum. Had a sweep on my due date but posterior and unfavourable cervix so not good news.
My induction is looming and I just feel so hopeless! Everyone keeps saying it could happen any time but with an unfavourable cervix and no labour signs is it quite unlikely I will go into natural labour? I’m desperate!!

Ah bless I felt the same with my first, then when I did go into labour at the hospital cried "I`ve changed my mind!!" causing much amusement for OH and staff. If you need an induction it is ok I had one for my third child, was no different from the normal type of labour.

You'd be surprised how much can change in a short space of time. My waters broke so I was booked for an induction the next day incase my waters didn't break. Went to midwife unit to be checked at 9pm (15 hours after waters breaking) and was barely 1cm dilated with a very hard cervix. Come 11pm contractions started. 5am and still barely 1cm but a favourable cervix. Thought I would definitely be induced. DS was born 5 hours later.

It can go from one extreme to the other very quickly, fingers crossed for you but I'm sure induction would be absolutely fine Smile

Incase my contractions didn't start

On my due date, I refused to book an induction in for two weeks later as the idea stressed me out.

I did agree to a sweep at 40+5, but went into labour at 40+4.

Anyway, I had no obvious signs of imminent labour until my contractions started. My waters didn’t break until I was pushing either. It can start really suddenly and with no warning!

First time round I had absolutely no signed until baby on 41 weeks when my contractions started. Try and be patient, your baby will be here in the next 10 days or so no matter what!

I had a sweep at 40+9. Baby came at 40+10. I'm not surprised though she really did rummage around in there Hmm
