How accurate are early gender scans?

Hi all,

I'm 16+5 and went for a private gender scan today. Initially the sonographer couldn't see as the cord was in the way, but after I got up and did a jig she said she was 'extremely sure' that it was a girl!

The 'potty shot' (I know, horrible term) looks girly to me but what do I know Grin

Did anyone else have an early gender scan? Was it accurate?

Thanks Smile

I didn’t have an early scan, I found out at the 20 week anomaly scan.

However, that does look very much like a girl.

Thanks @Gillian! Grin

Looks girly to me too. But you’ll get to double check in a few weeks at the 20 weeks Scan.
My gender scan confirmed boy and it was very very obvious. I’ll upload a pic so you can compare x

I had one at 16+4 and when I checked at my 20 week scan a couple of weeks back she was still a girl so I'll say yes haha! Also looks very very similar to my girl's potty shot. With DS he was very obviously a boy and I think that's usually the case as I've heard lots of others say the same Smile

Mine have been right everytime. I actually gound out this baby was a boy at 13 weeks this time. Xx

I had scan at 15 weeks and they thought most definitely a girl...correct! Smile

At my 12 week scan the sonographer said shebis 60% sure baby will be a boy. She was right!
My cousin, however, was told she is having a girl at 16 weeks and baby turned out to be a boy. Hmm
By 20 weeks you will know for sure.

Most times it’ll be right but it’s not an exact science. The 20 week scan might be clearer.

I had one at 14 weeks in the States that was extremely detailed. Way better than the one I had in the UK. Anyway it was completely accurate.

What difference will It make to you to find out 4 weeks earlier?

@mrbob some people prefer to have the scans privately as partners, children and family members are allowed in the room to see the scan whereas hospitals are more restricted.
