Pregnancy and metformin

Is anyone taking metformin during pregnancy?
I am 8 weeks pregnant and thought I had suffered a miscarriage . I had a scan last week and baby is still there.. The spotting has stopped for now but I am still a bit worried.
I have PCOS and endometriosis and I am under fertility and started taking metformin this year on and off...
Once my period was late I stopped taking metformin and I haven't had it since.
I know some DRs suggest taking it throughout to reduce risk of miscarriage but I wanted to be as natural as possible... My DR said that she cant find any evidence to support taking it so just to carry on without.
Am I putting myself at risk by not taking it though?
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks.

Hi my circumstances are a bit different to yours - I take metformin for type 2 diabetes - but took it all through my first pregnancy and now I'm 32 weeks into my second and still take it. I've been told by all of my nurses, drs, consultants etc that it's safe during pregnancy but sorry I can't comment on its effect on the risks of miscarriage.

I have carried on taking my Metformin the entire pregnancy (also for PCOS). Most women stay on until around 12 weeks to prevent miscarriage but after quite a bit of research, i decided to stay on it the entire time. From recent medical papers, i concluded there were far more benefits than dangers and my consultant agreed. Your risk of gestational diabetes drops and despite the Met crossing the placenta, recent studies showed some benefit to the baby (lower chance of the child having type 1 diabetes and also lower chance of childhood obesity.)
