Anyone good with nub theory?

Hi,

Anyone have any idea if there’s a nub here and do you have any guesses if so?

The sonographer said I was 12+2, but due to ovulation dates I do think i’m a few days behind that.

Anyone good with nub theory?

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I can see a nub and I'd say it's a girl! Xx

12+2 is a bit early for nub theory. Looks girly so far though.

VillageFete · 18/09/2018 14:18

Thanks for the replies. I’m sure i’m even slightly less than that on the scan. I have the NHS one this Friday so will have a better idea of dates then.

After years of infertility hell, i’m just desperate to know if it’s male or female. I can’t wait to start bonding and for it to feel more real.

Yes, I believe if the nub looks girly it could possibly change if it’s too early?

Nub definitely looks girly but I also think baby looks girly anyway. I get a feeling sometimes when I look at a scan. Congratulations x x

Looks like girl to me too.

The sonographers dates are always different to actual ovulation dates. Don’t be surprised if your actual dating scan agrees with the sonographer.

VillageFete · 18/09/2018 15:56

Thanks for the replies. My gut says girl, and I agree the scan looks girly.

@fuzzywuzzy This baffles me. Does it mean i’d be wrong with ov dates, or just that the baby is a bit bigger/smaller? I had another failed round of IVF in June, was told to abstain from sex in July as was starting IVF again in August. We didn’t abstain Blush But only had sex once on 7th July. First scan I had put my due date as 1st April which would mean I ovulated on 9th July. But this scan put me as 28th March which would mean I ovulated on 5th July, which wouldn’t have resulted in a pregnancy as the egg would be dead before sperm got near?

I think girl too

fuzzywuzzy · 18/09/2018 16:15

I think hospitals just have a different dating technique they add on two weeks from when you ovulate I think, so date your pregnancy from the first day of your last period (when most women can’t logically be pregnant).

Congratulations on your pregnancy

beccii161016 · 18/09/2018 18:00

Looks like a girl! I know 12th week is meant to be less accurate but everyone guessed girl for my scan at 11+2 and were correct not that there's a 50% chance of them guessing correctly anyway haha Grin

Nubs can rise obviously but I'd strongly say girlSmile

beccii161016 · 18/09/2018 18:01

Also RE your dates, the dating scan is most likely pretty spot on.

You could have ovulated at a slightly different time and also, implantation can take up to 10 days so there's no way of being completely sure of your conception date. I'd go with the sonographer Smile

VillageFete · 18/09/2018 18:22

@beccii161016 Thanks for your guess. Oh, so does conception date possibly mean implantation date? As I say, we only had sex once on the 7th July so i’m thinking ovulation had to be on this day or afterwards.

Any idea how likely the nub is to rise after 12 weeks? Even on a FB nub theory group everyone has said “early girl” I’d wouldn’t like to get used to the idea and then get a shock of “it’s a boy” at my 16 week scan, or vice versa.

That's exactly it, the day implantation occurred is when your conception date will be. So however long fertilisation took and then up to 10 days after doing the deed is your conception window. That's why they always date it from LMP as no one can really know their exact conception date.

I honestly have no idea how likely nubs are to rise. I would try not to set yourself on your nub theory answers as it is just a theory. It seems to have a high degree of accuracy but it is just a theory. Smile

TheCag · 19/09/2018 17:25

My ds2 scan was at 12+2, I was told ‘girly but early’ and it was indeed a boy. 13 weeks is much more accurate apparently.
