2d scan of face

Had a growth scan today at 34+1 and the lady seemed to encourage us to get another pic. I wasn't even thinking about asking for a pic given the purpose of the scan but said ok why not. She snapped one of the babys face and now I'm sort of wishing I'd never seen it! It looks freaky, her facial features look all over the place! Either that or I'm just not seeing it properly. Im sure she'll be a beautiful little baby and these 2d scans aren't really great at showing what they'll actually look like. Anyone got any pics to compare just for fun?

I totally know how you feel. I had a 3D scan of dd and it really freaked me out, in fact I actually felt really disturbed by it she had hollows for eyes and just look really weird.
All I can say is she was gorgeous when she was born but I didn't have a 3D scan with the next two.
If I were you I would put it away and forget about it. You may appreciate it more once she's born.

If there were clear facial abnormalities I think you'd have been told by now. It's just not a great picture.

The 2D ones are weird because it's as if you've virtually sliced the baby in half and seen from there. That's how they see a heartbeat, ribs etc. Pictures of the face in profile seem to work better for 2D.

I'm trying not to let it cause me any worry, I know from a Google search how odd they can be in 2d. Also, as the sonographer was the one who asked us if we'd like a pic after getting sight of the face I don't think she'd have then took a snap if she was concerned. As you say @crabbypatty I would've been told by now if I had something to worry about. I've had 10 scans upto now (many for growth following reduced movements but all show baby is very well).

Our sonographer actually warned us before imaging her face in that plane that she was going to look skeletal and creepy 😂 she was cuter when she cane out fortunately!

Hahaha I got a face view 2D scan at 20weeks, I just find it funny how freaky it looks.

I also had a 3D scan at 30weeks and it's amazing to see my baby's face. Looks like me, super weird!

Ps I don't know what she/he will look like as they are still wriggling around in my tummy

I loved our 4d scan! I think yours is just not a good picture, it’s very unclear. Hope the growth scan went well though Flowers

This was my DS when I was 20 weeks pregnant! The sonographer said she normally doesn't show people full face views as it creeps people out! My DH loved it got some reason.
I still agree it's rather creepy, but there you go.

Aww they're all strangely cute these scan pics really in their own way. I wanted to get a 3d/4d scan but my DP was dead against it as he finds them freaky. A hell of a lot more accurate than a 2d tho!

I feel daft this morning as I can remember seeing my baby's face on a scan a couple of weeks ago and everything was in place. In fact she stuck her tongue out it was ever so funny but I seemed to forget that episode yesterday. To be fair, I can't remember my own name most days. Such a strange old process this pregnancy lark isn't it 😉
