Hello Ladies.

My Fiancé and I are due to get married next year, after which we are keen to start trying for a baby. I know that many ladies can find conceiving difficult after coming off the pill, so I am looking to try and lessen the blow of this.

I can’t risk coming off the pill yet as I don’t want to be pregnant for my wedding! However, I have considered switching from the combined pill (microgynon) to the mini-pill as that doesn’t have such a affect on your ovulation pattern. Does anyone have any advice on this? I’m sure the mini-pill is less strong and quicker to get out of your system as it doesn't affect oestrogen levels in the same way as the combined pill does ?

Nb: Neither my partner or I enjoy using condoms, hence I haven’t considered them as an option.

I came off the mini pill at Christmas and got my first bleed after five weeks and was pretty regular after that. I didn't try to get pregnant till last month but by some fluke it happened first time.
But yeah it's different for everyone. I would just not concentrate on it too much. Because stressing doesn't help. I'd come off it after the wedding and then just relax as much as poss and see what happens x

Mini pill can cause erratic bleeding as well as stopping periods so I would stick with what you're on for the time being

My GP actually suggested doing this for the reasons you mention. I had no periods at all on the mini pill it was great! You do have to be v consistent taking it. I was pregnant within 8 weeks of stopping it, period returned within first 4 wks.

I had no periods while on it and once keen to TTC I was advised to come off it for 3 months (use condoms instead) to let it get out of my system. Started TTC which then took 2 years.

I had been very happy on Microgynon for years before but had to stop as I was starting to get “aura” - GP said to change pill immediately as aura is linked to increased risk of stroke.

I went from microgynon to the mini pill in January/February.....

I'm currently 15 1/2 weeks pregnant 🙈

It obviously didn't agree with my body as we fell pregnant the end of May.

It might be different for others 👶🏽
