I'm supposed to be 7+2 but as I approach an early private scan next week, I'm growing more and more anxious that I've had a missed miscarriage.

Stupidly, I did a clearblue digital today which says I'm 2-3 weeks, far less than I should be. Does this mean my pregnancy has stopped developing? How accurate are these tests? I don't know whether I should be devastated or not.

And yes I know I've tortured myself and should've left it 😔

How sure are you on your dates? As it’s possible you could only be 5 weeks plus especially if you ovulated late? When is your private scan? That’s really the only thing that can give you peace of mind and will also let you know
More about whether you are earlier than you think? X

AmyRhodes · 28/08/2018 22:21

I'm certain I ovulated on the 20th, 21st and 22nd July.

I have no pregnancy symptoms apart from slightly tender breasts.

Private scan is on Sunday.

Did you use FMU? If you are sure on your dates then I would leave it a couple of days and take another test. If it hasnt gone up in another week then it could be a bad sign though OP. Really hope all is well though.

AmyRhodes · 28/08/2018 22:31

I didn't use FMU, no.

I've booked in for a private scan on Sunday. The next few days are going to feel like a lifetime.

I got into a habit of doing clear blue digitals. They are known for being unreliable so please don't worry about that.

Sar51 · 28/08/2018 22:35

That could be the reason then Amy. I know it’s really hard but try not to think about it too much until Sunday if you can. I’ve been there before and it’s horrible when you don’t know if everything and you want answers so I know how hard it must be Flowers

spugzbunny · 28/08/2018 22:36

Those dates don't sound very certain to me. Ovulation is a one off event so only one of those days is your ovulation. The only way to know is if you were taking your temperature to confirm. If you didn't there's a good chance you were off.

Secondly, clear blue digitals are not very accurate. Firstly you need to add 2 weeks on so it'd be around 5 weeks and for them to be our by a week or 2 is totally normal. Try not to worry and wait and see what happens at your scan. If you really wanted, you could test again in say a week and see if it's gone to 3+ weeks.

  • if everything is ok
AmyRhodes · 28/08/2018 22:43

Thanks ladies.

I know this is an unhealthy amount of stress. I think I've just convinced myself I'm going to lose it and I'm going mad.

Will just try to get on with my life until Sunday 🤞🙏

Sorry @spugzbunny I meant "or" rather than "and"

I do measure my BBT plus I've just double-checked my calendar and looks like it must have been 20th or 21st. Plus those are the only days that match with DTD.

spugzbunny · 28/08/2018 22:54

Ok that make sense. You're still only 2 weeks off at this stage though so I'd try not to worry too much. It doesn't add the 2 weeks from day 1 until ovulation. It just counts from ovulation.

That's well within the usual level of inaccuracy for clear blue! I'm not a fan!

babydreamer1 · 28/08/2018 23:00

But those dates would be about right for 7 weeks. CBD measures weeks from missed AF not ovulation so assuming a 4 week cycle you're 3+2 weeks, which is in line with your test, they are not 100% and you didn't use FMU so even less so. I had zero symptoms until 10 or so weeks and even then just occasional mild nausea and my boob soreness came and went. I'm now 34+3 with our baby boy. Hope all goes well on Sunday, I was the just as worried as you and the sound of the heartbeat was the best thing I've ever heard. Baby will be fine.

AmyRhodes · 28/08/2018 23:00

Thanks @spugzbunny

I don't think I'm a fan either. If I get to Sunday and it's fine I'll be asking myself "why the fuck did I put myself through that?!"

After 7 weeks it may well be the hook effect.
Clear blue digitals have optical sensors inside the casing ‘reading’ the strength of colour of the lines on the test to produce the digital reading. When hcg becomes very high the chemical on hpts that binds hcg struggles to manage the very high concentration and a weaker result is displayed. To find out if this is causing your issue- dilute your urine 50:50 with water and try another test. (Or put your CBDs in the bin- they are the work of the devil!)

OutPinked · 29/08/2018 09:29

You need to stop testing. There’s so much unnecessary anguish on this forum from women incessantly testing for weeks after their BFP it’s untrue. The clearblue digitals are also the worst for it.

AmyRhodes · 29/08/2018 10:13

I know. I absolutely am stopping the testing now.
