I'm 18 weeks pregnant and a little constipated. Friday I managed to go but there was some blood in the toilet and on the paper. Since then even if I only pass a small amount then there's bright red blood on the paper. Is this piles or do I need to ring doctor and/ or midwife?

You could have a slight tear maybe, rather than piles if you've been straining with constipation. It's always worth getting checked out and then it can't turn into something more problematic.

Either piles or a small tear or graze from where you are straining. If it gets worse go and see the GP. In the mean time drink plenty of water and pop and see the pharmacist for a stool softener that’s suitable in pregnancy. It will be a lot more comfortable going to the loo.
