Any experience with the Epi No?

This thing... epi-no.co.uk

I think I first heard of it on this very forum actually. Just wondering if anyone has used it, and what you thought?

First labour I ended in episiotomy to finally get baby out as there was just no way I was going to stretch enough. This was despite doing perineal massage religiously.

Been eyeing up this device wondering if it would be worth a try to maybe avoid a similar situation again.

It was mentioned in The Positive Birth Book, which I'm reading atm. If you look at the studies they quote on their website, it could be argued that the better outcomes were because women felt more confident and not that the Epi No worked... But if using it makes you feel better and therefore you don't tear, it has worked! For me personally, I don't think there's enough research to support paying £100 for it, but I've never tried it myself!

Yeah, the cost is the only thing putting me off TBH. If it was less than £50 I probably wouldn't hesitate, but it isn't an insignificant cost.
