It's not a good sign is it?

Also have a bit of back ache, is this the start of spd?

Doesn't sound too bad. My hips and back were in agony from about 10 weeks and gaviscon about 12 weeks it's more the fact that everything is loosening because of your hormones then later on it's because your baby is taking up more room and is heavy

elizastarbeth · 16/08/2018 20:27

If it helps, I've been on the Gaviscon since 13 weeks. Can't remember when the back ache started, but it must have been on/around/before 22 weeks.

I'm 31 weeks now and no sign of SPD.

Have you had it before?

peachesarenom · 16/08/2018 20:27

How many weeks are you now? Is Gaviscon still working for you?

No, it's my first bub hopefully! Just paranoid I suppose.

My back went through phases of hurting so I sort of bounced instead of walked HmmGrin my heartburn came and went though so fingers crossed for you x

BlueUggs · 16/08/2018 20:35

I was on gaviscon from 13 weeks and used to swig it out of the bottle!!

BlueBug45 · 16/08/2018 20:38

Don't worry my heart burn came and went repeatedly. I think in my case it was due to my baby changing direction.

Not had back ache but have had various other joints hurting at random times that have come and gone.

TwinkleMerrick · 16/08/2018 20:39

I don't miss that stuff! Make sure you get it on repeat prescription from your dr, it costs a fortune!! I used to carry it every where and drink it out the bottle. Good news is as soon as baby is out the heart burn stops GrinThanks

Mol1628 · 16/08/2018 20:41

I had gaviscon from early on it’s quite common. As is back ache. Doesn’t mean SPD

snowone · 16/08/2018 20:51

I'm 11+2 and swigging Gavsicon from the bottle normally after meals and just before bed! Oh the joys!!! Grin

lambdroid · 16/08/2018 21:02

Just wanted to add that if the heartburn gets too much, there are prescriptions of stronger things that can help.

Gaviscon etc didn’t touch mine and my midwife was very dismissive. Saw a different one at 36 weeks who told me to call my GP, prescription fixed it instantly. I was pretty annoyed that I’d been allowed to suffer (not exaggerating, couldn’t sleep it was so bad) for so long.

peachesarenom · 16/08/2018 21:25

Thanks everyone, I will defo get a prescription, that's a brilliant idea.

I had really bad back pain between 22 and 27 weeks. I’m in the 28th week now and it seems to have disappeared. Probably a fluke week though and it will return.

As for heartburn, had it since the beginning pretty much.

SiolGhoraidh · 16/08/2018 22:06

Sounds about right. I had heartburn from very early on and was on omeprazole from about 23 weeks.

SPD pain for me came on about 12 weeks, and is very centred on the front of my pelvis. It's worth speaking to a physio if you're concerned though.

BlueBug45 · 16/08/2018 22:31

@lambdroid many posters aren't aware that GPs are also responsible for antenatal care so if you need a test for something e.g. iron deficiency or a prescription then you need to see them, rather than a midwife. And yes you can make an emergency on the day appointment if necessary.

Nothisispatrick · 16/08/2018 22:42

I only needed gaviscon in the first trimester. 32 weeks now and heartburn hasn’t returned!

lambdroid · 17/08/2018 05:39

I wasn’t aware. I thought the midwives would do everything or would tell me otherwise, especially as they sorted out my iron prescription.

I now leap on every heartburn post to mention this as I was miserable for weeks for no reason!

Reader1984 · 17/08/2018 10:52

I've been swigging from the bottle for weeks. Wish I had gone to the go earlier and got a prescription.
