hello all,
Just wondering if anyone had been to one of the Mothercare Expectant Parent Events? And if so are they worth going to? I think they are running over the country from today til sunday but they do them throughout the year so people may have been to one already? Thanks!
xx

I just had a look... They are running from 5th - 19th August. I haven't been before so can't really help with your question but I was wondering if you (or any one else knew) how often they run? I am 19 weeks so just a bit early for us! But if they are only every 6 months it might be worth us going to this one!

I think I went to one of these. Not on purpose, we just nipped into mothercare on our way home one day and managed to get our nursery furniture for 25% off. If you've got some big bits to get and were planning on getting them in mothercare anyway it's worth it. This was over 2 years ago, but they seem to do them fairly regularly

I went to one last week. 10% off everything you buy that evening, a few bits in a bag for everybody to take away, and a talk on safe sleeping and car seats. Worth it for us as first time novices!

I went to one one on Tuesday. About an hour of talks by different people which were good. 10% of anything up to £700 then more off the more you spend. Nice goody bag too. I went with a friend and it was a fun evening x

thanks so much for the replies! me and my partner will definitely go along on sunday then - first time parents so all the info we can get is good! x

Also just to say mamas and papas do one too. We went to one Sunday and got a goody bag (including a baby grow and a rattle) and there is money off vouchers if you spend so much that day. Some useful talks too about baby first aid, prams/car seat safety etc x

I went to one last night!

We got a bag of freebies on the door (all the usual pregnancy freebies like nappies, creams, a dummy etc, but also a big box of chocolates!). They also gave us vouchers (10% off up to £799, 15% off over £800 and they were doing 20% off if you spent over about £1500 I think) and some raffle tickets.

They had laid out a little spread of sandwiches and cakes and drinks and they did a couple of talks on things like safe sleeping and car seats, with demonstrations etc. It was a lot of info I already knew but still really informative. They also had some external ladies there talking about different classes they run (there was a hypnobirthing lady and someone advertising a Baby Rhythm class).

There's no denying that the main agenda for them is to get you to buy their products but it doesn't take away from the fact that it was a nice and informative event. And I'm guessing that the 20% off the big ticket items like furniture and prams is a great reason to go (we've already got ours so wasn't a factor for us).

Definitely worth going considering it costs nothing, we enjoyed it.

Me and DH went - arrived late as had a scan prior so we missed the talks and then didn't buy anything lol, but was worth it for the goody bag. Can't turn down free stuff!

KNain · 17/08/2018 10:55

I went to one the other week and found the same as coffeeplastic. I went to 2 while pregnant with DS and 2 in this pregnancy. I always seem to need something from mothercare so may as well have 10% off!

I thought the gift bag at the most recent one was the best for a while. I was particularly pleased with the chocolates, dummies (mam ones - which were the ones I would have bought if I needed to so was chuffed about that) vitamins, and baby on board badge.
