Hi
I'm currently 40+1 weeks and for the past few days ive been having irregular contractions, serve back pain and what feel like shooting period pain. I rang the hospital they told me it sounds like labour is beginning. Been to see the midwife today for a sweep, who "forgot" I had an appointment so was rushing. She said that she can feel her head but my cervix is too high for her to reach but she was in and out so fast, said she will try again next week then rushed us back out. The whole appointment lasted 7 minutes!! I'm well and truly fed up now has anybody else experienced this and if so how long until you were in labour?

Thanks

I feel your frustration - I'm 40+2 today and feel like crap. I've been having on/ off braxton hicks which feel suspiciously contraction like and fools me into thinking it's starting....but then just stops!! I've also had lots of aches and pains but they just randomly stop too. I can't sleep at night and the heat is unbearable!

I was booked for a sweep yesterday but when I got there the midwife said that the birth centre was heaving and likely to close to new births, so I couldn't have one incase I went into labour Shock

Plus I feel like all I've done for the last few days is moan and whinge - I'm starting to piss myself off Grin

Oh, and this is my forth pregnancy...my last two were exactly the same in terms of on/off labour like feelings for days before the birth....in hindsight, for me that was early labour. It meant that when active labour started, it all happened very very quickly.

I have a 7 month old girl now but I remember feeling exactly the same!

I went nearly 2 weeks overdue and was miserable the whole time.

I had 2 failed sweeps both times the cervix was closed and I sobbed both times. On the second sweep I googled after what the longest overdue someone had gone which was weeks and weeks (!!!) And convinced myself that would happen to me. I was booked in for an induction in three says Hi.e after this and I was so sad as I desperately wanted as natural as possible birth.

The day after the second sweep I had reduced movements and was admitted where they found me in the early stages of labour. Baby girl was born a day later.

So stay strong. I know how hard it is but it will happen when your baby is ready. I used to read all that and think it bog off, but it will and it will be worth the wait.

And then the fun begins.... good luck.

I'm so glad it's not just me then, We found out when I was 2 weeks so it's been such a long pregnancy! Just want it to be over so I can feel normal again, hoping that she comes soon I don't really want to be induced or have to go through an attempted sweep again Hmm

Thanks everyone I will just sit tight, try and be active in this heat it's a bit difficult and pray she comes soon

How are you getting on @Kayleaedwards ?

I'm still pregnant, and miserable!! Saw the midwife yesterday and had a sweep...really thought it was all starting last night as I was awake until 3am with painful contractions but then it just slowed and stopped again. Today I've no contractions and lots of pains/ aches.

I feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever!!

@Grasshopper123 oh god that's such a tease! Just wish they would bloody come now.
I'm currently in hospital, my baby girl slowed down with her movements since i saw the midwife so I rang up yesterday they called me in to monitor her. They turned around and told me my blood pressure was really high, got a 1001 bruises from the machine so they admitted me last night with the plan of inducing me today.....well SUPPOSED to be, 20:52 still waiting for it to happen 😞 I'm knackered, I want her out! I this i she wants out too had a show last night, been getting the odd pains but nothing major.

Did you midwife mention anything else to you about a plan of action??
