How can I hide this ridiculous first-trimester bump?

I'm 7 weeks and I look like I've swallowed a goat.

I know at this stage it has to be mostly bloat unless there's 16 of them in there. But it's not going away and now none of my clothes fit!

What's best at hiding this clothes-wise? Office is fairly casual, I could wear jeans if I wanted (but usually wear skirts/dresses). Still have maternity clothes in the loft from my first baby but they all emphasise the sodding bump rather than hiding it.

I’m the same at 7 weeks and I’m taking massive doses of progesterone which has given me a 24/7 round hard bump shape. If it wasn’t ridiculously hot I’d be in drapey cardis and a long scarf but in this weather there’s not much you can do! I’m living in dresses that skim over it as much as possible and hoping people think I’ve had too much ice cream Blush

I’m wearing big earrings and lip stick to distract from my belly, not sure if it’s working Grin

Empire line dresses?

Floaty scarves.

Dark colours.

Talk loudly about how much chocolate you’ve eaten lately :)

Loose tops, black tops, something with layers, a light floaty cardigan, an oversized bag. Something bright and colourful on your neck with plain clothes. I tried lots.

WhatAnAbsolutePenis · 28/07/2018 14:32

It’s not that big. It only seems like a pregnancy bump because you know your pregnant.

To rest of the world it’s just pasta.

Stephisaur · 28/07/2018 14:35

You know those shapeless tent dresses that are really comfy but make you look about 10 stone heavier?

They’re great. Just tell people you’re getting fat if asked 😂

Pittcuecothecookbook · 28/07/2018 14:36

I agree with Penis. If I saw you, I'd not think you were pregnant.

PrizeWinningMammoth · 28/07/2018 15:04

It's nowhere near that size usually (you'll have to trust me on that!). So may well just come across as fat to strangers, but is going to be noticeable to people who are used to the standard version.

Massive tent dresses it is for now. I do have a couple of those long floaty cardigans somewhere - hopefully the weather gets cooler soon.

Just be honest - tell people you're bloated. Baby is behind your pubic bone until about 14 weeks isn't it? So it's just bloat. Drapey clothes and no one will notice

TheWanderlust · 28/07/2018 15:13

@PrizeWinningMammoth feeling your pain. First pregnancy and I'm massive! Only 8+4 and already look like I've swallowed a beach ball.

PalePinkSwan · 28/07/2018 15:26

Maybe one of those very loose jumpsuits as well? Eg if you search women’s jumpsuits on amazon you get some that are very baggy, they’ve been described on mumsnet before as making you look like a flying squirrel.

Verbena87 · 28/07/2018 15:29

Trapeze tops or long oversized shirts with leggings are helpful.

snowsun · 28/07/2018 15:33

Loose shirt open or done up.
Crocheted top over vest.
Any layers.

Milkshakeminer · 28/07/2018 15:35

Embrace it!! I was tiny and didn’t have a bump (my son was back to back) until 35weeks and then it just looked like I’d over eaten the night before. I would have loved to have looked and felt pregnant, especially since he’s my only one!

PrizeWinningMammoth · 28/07/2018 15:37

Grin at flying squirrel. That's a look I can get behind, belly or no belly.

Thanks for suggestions all!

Loose shirts help. Also drink peppermint tea it helps to reduce bloating

mommybear1 · 28/07/2018 17:17

Gypsy tops were a god send for me and cheap as chips in Matalan not sure if they still have them in but basically elasticated at the bottom and lots of material to create layers on the front and back - so comfy I wore them for my whole pregnancy Grin
