Car seats for newborn!

If I thought choosing a pram was hard this is so much harder!

What do people recommend?

I need one for a newborn.

Also.. I know you can't put a baby car seat in the front but how do you check baby is ok when driving if they are in a rear facing seat in the back seat? I won't even be able to see him in my mirror?!

Is there a car seat which will fit on your pram? Maxi Cosi Pebble & Cabriofix seem to fit a lot of prams.

Also you can buy a mirror to go on the headrest so you can see the baby when you are driving.

I went with a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix which a friend recommended.

We are looking at the Cybex Cloud Q as it has a lie flat option and seems fairly competitive in price with other leading seats.

They are all much of a muchness to be honest. Maxi cosi seats are good and faulty universal to fit. You can put the seat in the front so long as you can disable the airbag. Many people choose to do this when it’s just them and the baby in the car and it’s perfectly safe when rear facing. Otherwise get a mirror.

I chose the buggy then worked out which car seats can be attached to the buggy.
I was going to chose the lightest of the two options I had but it actually worked out that one had a good offer on it so I bought that one.

You use a mirror on the head rest so you can see the baby in your rear view mirror.

We had a lie flat car seat from Kiddy. It was excellent. It meant I could put it on the pram in lie flat mode and not worry about the time DD was in it, certainly less faff than messing around with the carry cot. And we had a mirror that went on the head rest of the seat she was in and then you can see baby in the rear view mirror.

Which do a comparison, I’ve spent so much time researching car seats it’s unreal. In 2014 we want for the maxi cosi (pebble think it was called) which was rated highest at the time. It’s done well for two kids. (And ready for no3) it’s the next seat up I found hardest, we chose to rear face, both now in the I’ve Britax one that passed Swedish test +.
It’s a car seat minefield out there, good luck!
(Maxi cosi worked with pram wheels and adaptors which was handy to switch over when baby was asleep)

Meant to say you can get a mirror that hangs in the back so you can see their face.
