It’s my due date tomorrow and just wondered if you always lose your mucus plug?🙄 x

I googled this the other night and apparently not everyone loses it. It can go during labour or little bits at a time so it's not really noticeable or not at all.

I lost mine in labour - just before I was examined and told I was 8cm dilated!

pennyw85 · 08/07/2018 18:57

I lost mine during labour with DD, somewhere before 5cm but can't say when exactly. Same with waters if that's any help 😊

Orangedaisy · 08/07/2018 18:58

I didn’t notice mine with DD2. Waters went after a few contractions at home, I’m guessing with them came the plug but I didn’t clear it up (thankfully)!

BrutusMcDogface · 08/07/2018 18:58

You will lose it, but it could be at any time and you might not even notice. Good luck, hope you're not waiting too much longer!

I lost mine during labour, no sign of it beforehand!

buzz91 · 08/07/2018 19:10

I didn’t lose mine until 5 hours before labour started, so it’s not always a slow process in the run up to labour

thismeansnothing · 08/07/2018 19:11

Nope I didn't lose mine.

Went into labour naturally at 42+3 out of the blue with no signs/symptoms/build up. Waters broke after 8 or so hours so unless it was in there lord only know where it went 😂

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 08/07/2018 19:12

I didn't notice mine going, my waters went but I didn't see a yucky slimy thing or a bloody show.

Whatififall · 08/07/2018 19:12

I didn’t notice losing mine, guessing it went during labour.
I do remember going in to be induced and saying I didn’t know if I’d lost it and then having to wear a pad for a bit so midwife could check my discharge as that would apparently help tell 🤢

ParisNext · 08/07/2018 19:13

I never noticed mine. Waters broke with dc1 and I had no inkling before hand.

CLB1234 · 08/07/2018 19:17

With DD mine went bit by bit during labour, with DS it was like a champagne cork in the birthing pool when my waters broke. He followed not long after

PurplePotatoes · 08/07/2018 19:20

I lost mine at 40 weeks exactly with DD. I still had to be induced at 40+12.

I didn't lose any at all with DS and he came on his own at 40+4 so I'd say no, you don't necessarily.

Halfblindbunny · 08/07/2018 19:22

I'm assuming I must have lost mine at SW point. It never actually noticed.

Okki · 08/07/2018 19:29

I didn't with either pregnancy and with DD I had barely any water either. Certainly no gush. More of a dribble Grin
