crib or moses basket?

don't like the idea of putting baby on floor or on flimsy skinny wooden stands that all seem de rigeur with moses baskets but...I do see the advantage of being able to move the baby around the house when asleep

however I really do really like the traditional crib - but it may be less practical for a sleeping baby during day

any insights would be helfpful....

ta!

I had a moses basket for all three of mine and they were all in there until about 6 months. I didnt have a stand though - just put it on the floor - not sure now if theres anything wrong with that? Having said that, most of the time they slept in with me but for their naps they went in the basket fine. If I have a fourth I fancy one of the Amby nature nests as they sound great....

I did have a stand for the moses basket but tbh I don't remember using it
I just put the basket on the floor, on the sofa or on the bed, or at my mum's house rihgt in the middle of the huge dining table

Used a crib for dd1 and had a carry cot for downstairs - however these belonged to sil and we both had 2nd baby at same time! Crib was nice to look at and she was in it till 5 months, she didn't like the rocking action though (lose dummy through the gaps too).

Borrowed a moses basket for my 2nd and he grew out of it in 3 months, but yes he slept all over the house in it.

BTW, i know someone who used moses basket to help with transition into cot, by putting moses basket in cot for the first few nights, which worked well for her.

taffy - that is a good idea for the transition esp since am thinking of getting a cotbed...

lfm - re the amby nature nest - wow never seen those before!

I've ended up with a crib, as my advice from my mum was that me and my 3 other siblings especially my eldest brother couldnt sleep in the moses baskets as we didnt like the sound of creaking wicker, to this day he wont sit on a wicker chair!
