Is this my waters?!

I'm 37 + 4 weeks.

I sat down this morning to do the washing and felt some water come out. Not much but enough to make my knickers wet. It was clear and odourless.

The only way I can think to describe it is after having a shower or a bath when you think you're all dry but then some shower/bath water leaks out of you.

Anyway, so I changed my pants and put a sanitary towel in and it's happened again about four times.

The sanitary towel is relatively dry and two of the four times it's happened have been when I've sat down on the toilet before I've done a pee.

Could this be my waters or am I being paranoid? My DP says I should call my midwife.

Have had no other symptoms.

Definitely call - my waters haven't broken yet so I don't know, but in our antenatal class they were very clear that slow leaks are as likely as big gushes and that we should call if not sure.

TokyoSushi · 03/07/2018 13:26

Yes, it sounds like your waters are leaking, definitely call!

IncyWincyMouseRat · 03/07/2018 13:32

Sounds more like vaginal discharge to me. What does it smell like. It’s worth getting it checked though.

littlecabbage · 03/07/2018 13:34

It sounds as though it could be your waters. I'd call your triage unit for advice xx

WhirlingTurkey · 03/07/2018 13:43

Sounds very much like your waters! Mine went in a similar fashion. I would definitely call and go and get checked - if it is your waters then you may be at risk of infection, so midwife definitely needs to check you over. Take a pad with it on with you so the midwife can have a look. I managed to catch some of mine in a jug so I could take some along.

Run out to boots and get amino scence there special pads that change colour at first contact with amniotic fluid /waters

adviceonthepox · 03/07/2018 18:39

That's what happened to me on my first child and my waters were going. I was 37 weeks and my baby was delivered 38 hours later.

beccii161016 · 03/07/2018 21:22

Call and get it checked out. If it's not then no need to worry but if your waters have broken they'll need to book you an induction in 24 hours in case contractions haven't started as baby is open to infection.

Better to be safe than sorry Smile

It was my waters! Hospital confirmed.

Have been in hospital overnight for monitoring.

Seems all good so far but no signs of any contractions or anything yet.

Hi OP any updates? Hope you’re doing well!! Flowers

17caterpillars1mouse · 04/07/2018 14:38

This was how my waters went. I felt a pop when i rolled over in bed then just leaking every so often, usually before a wee. I wasn't sure but I definitely was as confections started 1 minute apart so 15 minutes and DD was born 6hrs later

beccii161016 · 04/07/2018 19:44

Hope all is well OP! Guessing they've probably induced you by now! Hoping you meet your little one soon Thanks

meganerk · 04/07/2018 20:39

Still at hospital.

Had a gel induction about an hour ago.

May also have to have the hormone drip if the gel fails.

Fingers crossed things start happening soon! Grin Don't particularly like the idea of the drip!

adviceonthepox · 04/07/2018 23:16

Good luck op! May be worth asking for antibiotics as your waters have been gone so long. Hope baby arrives soon Smile

unicorncow · 05/07/2018 01:39

My waters broke slowly at 36+2 and I went into hospital the next day, they put me on antibiotics and he wasn't born until 36+6! Good luck, hope you don't have too long to wait!

HelenSim33 · 05/07/2018 13:20

Good luck! Hopefully things are moving along now!

BrutusMcDogface · 05/07/2018 13:23

Ooh, good luck! FlowersSmile

meganerk · 06/07/2018 18:23

DS finally born last night at 8:14pm, three and a half days after waters initially started leaking.

Had antibiotics to prevent infection and hormone drip to augment labour as no contractions came naturally.

Ended up with a vaginal birth, no interventions, failed epidural, 2nd degree tear that required no stitching and labia tears that did require stitching.

DS 6lb 14 healthy and happy!
