When you are 30 weeks pregnant in this heat that doesn't make you feel sick and give you heartburn but also really quenches your thirst???? Not asking for much obviously.... ;-)

I'm obvs drinking as much as I can but no matter what I try, I feel s**t after it. Heartburn is unreal.

Anyone got anything good that's given them that sort of refresher feeling?

Cider is the only thing I fancy....dark fruits....ice cubes....typical lol

Elderflower cordial and Kopparberg pear fake cider

arghhhhhhh · 02/07/2018 16:22

@zozozoo did not know that existed thank you!

I'm only 9 weeks pregnant but went through a phase of feeling awful after drinking anything with sweeteners. I found Ribena helped as although it has sweeteners it has a huge amount of 'real' sugar in!

I feel your pain though, one week of Ribena and i was off it again....now struggling!

arghhhhhhh · 02/07/2018 16:28

@Plumsmith yes it's not easy is it? I'm so thirsty constantly but my heartburn is constant and drinking anything just makes it worse. I wish water would help but even that is just a nightmare. Hope you find something that works!

Kia ora summer fruits cordial
Stick in freezer for a while

From the asian super markets (or bigger asda/ Tesco in asian world food isle)
Rooh Afzah
Its like a rose syrup drink think.
In a jug add around 3-5 tbsps (depends on how sweet you want it), some sugar and squeeze a fresh lemon in it.
Add water, fill to top of jug and again stick in freezer a little while for that extra oomph

Tastes amazing! Ive got a batch in the freezer atm
Ps im also 30ish weeks
Chewing a rennie Hmm

I was heavily pregnant in the heatwave last summer and I found the best thing was ice cold cans of Bavaria alcohol free beer. It's so refreshing I've carried on drinking it now and so has my OH.

arghhhhhhh · 02/07/2018 16:47

@LostMyBaubles I'm doing that! That does sound amazing! Thank you very much. I just need something....ideally rain and snow but obviously that's unlikely Hmm

36 weeks here and even water gives me bloody heartburn Angry

I have found soda water is the only thing that is helping ease constant thirst and isn’t too bad for heartburn

arghhhhhhh · 02/07/2018 17:27

@user1483473283 water is the worst isn't it? I'd love to be able to down a pint of water cos I know that would make me feel loads more hydrated and just feel less knackered.

I hope you get through the last few weeks as best you can. I think I just need a good cry if I'm honest. Dh just came in and asked if I'd had a good day, could feel my eyes filling up

Really cold ice tea does it for me. (Have to be mindful of the caffeine though). I also like ginger beer with tons of ice (Lidl do sugar free fiery ginger which is really nice). I try and steer clear of anything fizzy normally, and am currently sucking a Rennie but the ginger beer seems fine.

Cranberry juice was a real winner early on but now it's heartburn central!

Just have that cry, sometimes you just have to let it out.

LostMyBaubles · 02/07/2018 18:03

I honestly cant wait to get it out the freezer in a bit
Its so nice and refreshing!
Super easy to do as well!
Enjoy

Iced mint tea, with a spoonful of sugar if you don't like the taste. The mint will help with heartburn and any sickness. I still drink it to this day when I'm feeling hot and grim, even though my last summer pregnancy was 10 years ago!

MotherofPearl · 02/07/2018 19:40

I found lemon barley squash served with plenty of ice a godsend in my pregnancies. Also, ranitidine is much better for the heartburn than rennies. The Tesco own-label one is very cheap, though it's also marketed as Zantac I think, which is more expensive.

What's good to drink....

It's sounds strange but have you tried sparkling water?? I was suffering really badly with indigestion and heartburn (currently 18+4) and decided to try that after someone recommended it put it in the fridge and it's lovely I wonder whether it's the fizziness that makes me burp and get rid of the indigestion and heartburn! But it works and is thirst quenching! You could probably add a squash to it too but I find I can only have apple and black current, orange, lemon etc all gives me heartburn!!
