When was your first midwife appointment?

Hi All

I'm 7+2 and have my first midwife appointment tomorrow. I haven't seen my GP as the receptionist at the surgery said I was able to book straight away with the midwife.

I am panicking a little as I have been reading that most first midwife appointments should be between 8-12 weeks. The receptionist didn't ask me how many weeks I was when I first booked the appointment and it didn't cross my mind to say.

This is my first pregnancy so a little clueless here but just hope they don't turn me away!

When did you have your first appointment?

Xx

I had mine at just over 8 weeks, but I don’t think it matters if it’s a bit early really. All they did was ask loads of questions and take bloods which can be done at 7 weeks really. Congratulations!

It really doesn't matter it's just your first contact appointment. I think I had mine at a similar time. They'll take your weight and ask some questions work our estimated due date etc. Good luck! Exciting time.

I saw a midwife at 7 weeks who referred me for my booking in, which is next week, when I'll be 10+4.

I have a pre-booking appointment tomorrow, I'm 4 weeks. She said I'll then have a booking in appointment as normal which is 8 weeks. Third pregnancy and never been seen this early before! The only thing I can think of is that my last pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 11 weeks and as it's the same midwife she's being cautious.

I had a pre appointment at 8 weeks, they took bloods and filled out forms in the surgery, then your official first one is at home after

I had my first appointment yesterday at 6+3 so pretty early. She just asked all the questions about family history etc and took my bloods and blood pressure. She also rang up to book my 12 week scan for me.

I have one at 9 weeks (so in just over a week).

I did see my GP 4 weeks though due to my last one ending in miscarriage.

My scan is already booked for 12 weeks :)

For DS1, procedure was had to see GP (was about 5 weeks) then saw midwife for booking in at 8 weeks. For this pregnancy they've changed that so straight to midwife around 8 weeks. Glad really as felt I was wasting a GP appointment!

I'm "officially" 7+3 if we're going from my last period, but I'm quite irregular and think I'm actually about a week less than that.
My first MW appointment is on17th July, so I'll be around 8-9 weeks then.

7 weeks, but it really doesn't matter as long as they do it in time to sort out the 12 week scan. It's more of a form filling medical history excercise. They might book your first blood tests too.

Had mine at 5+5. My midwife said she likes to see people as early as possible so no worries.
