I've sorted my mat leave and due to start around 17th September.. Just need to find out how the pay works whilst I'm off..

Anm4 · 01/07/2018 17:08

Yeah my midwife/consultant have been supportive with it though so I'm sure it will all be ok just can't be helped worrying.. and have swollen feet and had to take my wedding ring off too but I'm not doing to bad at the moment. X

MaverickSnoopy · 01/07/2018 18:07

@Sophwalms the second was definitely "easier" although not (if that's possible).

1st was a 25 hour spontaneous labour with epidural at 15 hours. Was dilated at 3cm at 18 hours and the epidural definitely slowed things down.

2nd was induced (only needed waters breaking) and was already 3cm dilated (without feeling anything) when induced. Labour lasted 4 hours from start to finish. Had epidural at about 2 hours but it didn't work. Baby's heart rate dropped dramatically and all the scary equipment and doctors were brought in. All was fine in the end.

I've heard plenty of stories where people say the second is easier/faster. I've also heard stories where people say it's just the same. I think it's just different experiences.

I'm terrified this time that I'll go into spontaneous labour with my 6yo and toddler here on my own. It takes DH 30 mins to get back from work and roadworks have started en route to hospital for the next 6 months. I'm so worried I'll be having to get drinks etc for the children in between contractions!

Hi all! I'm 23+3 with our first child and very excited. Heats not been to bad but I have been avoiding moving so that helps 😁. What's everyone brought so far? Trying to get it all early before I'm whale like xx

Sophwalms · 01/07/2018 19:09

We have done the nursery, just need a pushchair car seat and clothes now. I know I'm the same i have a 5 year old and my partner works an hour away so I'm frightened if something happens on my own.. Time will tell. Wow the heat is killing me today just had a freezing shower what a killer:!!! Is this weather going to be like this all summer does anyone know? I was hoping for a typical English crap weather summer lol xx

@Sophwalms we've just actually bought an air con unit and in our boiling little flat it's a godsend. This one but they have lots - I was dubious but DH was definitely right:

Hi. I’m 24+3. First baby. Really exicted. Not suffering too much in the heat but have terrible hayfever for first time ever but. Now wondering if I’ve had a chest infection. I’m working up to week before due date if I feel well. Haven’t bought anything yet - was going to leave that to end of August. Do
People think that is late?

riaviolet · 01/07/2018 21:14

@Fergiemom - It's not late however I would buy things whilst they are on offer/sale.. Smile

jellybeanpaws · 01/07/2018 21:16

Hello! I’m 25+2 with my second baby boy!

Currently trying to make the most of good weather with my 18 month old but it’s hard going! But I’m tanning really well!

Baby is moving a lot these days, starting to get more exciting.

Has anyone chosen their babies names??

Sophwalms · 01/07/2018 21:31

I have suffered from hayfever this year first time ever. Sneezing is not good have to cross my legs if u no what i mean lol. Me my son and my partner have chosen ours for our little boy but a lot of people hate the name xxx

We've brought all the big things as wanted to do first wasn't sure how much it was going to cost and how many paydays we'd have to use, but thankfully wasn't as bad as we thought. Was anyone else confused with travel systems??? I felt like I needed a GCSE in them lol. I ended I'm just getting the Mothercare journey one as didn't want to spend outrageous amounts. Still need to paint and decorate nursery so by no means done lol xxx

Sophwalms · 01/07/2018 21:53

@Mads123 i looked at that travel system is it good? Xx

Mads123 · 01/07/2018 21:59

@Sophwalms I have no idea lol... I haven't put it up yet waiting until nursery is ready but had good reviews and reasonably priced so went for it. The car seat isn't isofix which I would of preferred but I'm not sure how much time is saved. Good luck choosing xxx

riaviolet · 01/07/2018 22:00

@Mads123 - I brought the same one as well in Black.. Also used 10% expectant mother event voucher as well! 🙂🙂

SAN9089 · 17/07/2018 20:05

I'm due on 14th October, first baby, it's starting to feel real now !

Not looking forward to my anti d injection, has anybody else had one ?

I also would like to know people 'must buys' for both baby and recovery

Mexie · 17/07/2018 22:46

I'm due 29th October, it's 33 degrees and humid here, I don't feel like doing anything!

Markygirl1995 · 17/07/2018 22:48

Due 17th! Anyone scared/nervous/excited

Mexie · 18/07/2018 02:36

A little nervous and unsure what to expect Shock

Running365 · 18/07/2018 08:33

Due that week too @SAN9089 and got my anti-d injection next week, midwife said it can cause you to feel quite achey afterwards. Excited about October but also very nervous. Slightly cooler today and trying to enjoy summer and not wish it away! How's everyone else doing? Have you got much prepared yet?

mamaandthegirls · 18/07/2018 10:40

Due 3rd of oct Grin
