20 week scan - heart chambers not formed correctly

Hello
Wondering if anyone has any experience of this? Went to my second anomaly scan at 22 weeks as they couldn't see the heart chambers in the first. Confirmed that they're not forming correctly and I have to come back for a further scan for it to be confirmed by a consultant, and they're also referring me to a specialist in Leeds (currently under Sheffield).
I'm assuming the sonographer is pretty confident with what she saw as referring me to specialist rather than waiting for confirmation. She couldn't tell me much else and I have to wait for at least the weekend till I can speak to a consultant. I can't be left too long though - they have to diagnose before 24 weeks so that I still have option of termination (surmised from sonographer). Now feeling very isolated, crying a lot and swinging between full panic and completely numb.
Has anyone got experience of this?
What happened?
Thanks in advance x

Sorry you are going through this. You don't have to make any decisions before 24 weeks, as for serious medical issues a termination can be performed later than this- not saying that's great, but means you can take your time to get information and make your decision.

The specialist will be able to see the exact problem and tell you the likely outcomes and any possible treatment, this will help inform your decision.

So sorry that you are going through this, I just wanted to let you know that there is a charity called Antenatal Results & Choices (ARC) who have a brilliant helpline and I would highly recommend giving them a call for help and support.
Also, just to let you know that termination after 24 weeks is possible where a problem with the heart is diagnosed, I know that's not the priority and not what you would want the outcome to be but just didn't want you to be worrying about that in addition to everything else.

So sorry to hear you are going through such a worrying time. My step grandson had heart issues diagnosed at 20 week scan, multiple open heart surgeries later and he is now a happy 4 year old starting school in September. My godson was diagnosed with kidney issues at 20 week scan and they were offered a termination, he's had to have a kidney removed but now you would never know he had issues.
I don't want to give you false hope but medical advances these days are amazing and bad news doesnt always forecast a sad ending.
I hope everything goes your way xxx
