Hi i was due to start my periods on the 14th June. I had so many pregnancy symptoms that i actually took a test on the 13th of June and it came out positive. It was the £1 test from Asda.

Called my Doctors to be referred to a midwife because im around 7 weeks now, but the receptionist said they wont see me until atleast the 12 week mark confused

Should i take another test to see wether im definitely pregnant or should i stick with the results of the one ive already done? (I have only done 1 test)

Thank you

Am i definitely pregnant?

That's very very positive, it's a very dark line. No need to do another!

Raheesmyboy · 29/06/2018 17:48

Thank u foggymist i just really dont want to be spending alot on pregnancy tests to be honest!

The booking appointment with the midwife is usually between 8-12 weeks but you do need to be referred to make that appointment.

The test is very positive and I’m assuming you’re having pregnancy symptoms and the period never turned up? You’re definitely pregnant Smile

Mousefunky my symptoms are coming and going at the moment, but no period Smile

I called the Doctors as soon as i found out which was around 2.5 weeks ago, and then i called again 2 days ago to see wether i have been referred as of yet, but the receptionist said they dont give appointments until your 12 weeks

12 weeks is rather late for the booking appt because the nuchal scan needs to take place between 12 and 14 weeks.

Raheesmyboy · 29/06/2018 18:17

Liverbird77 thats exactly what i was thinking, because with my first i remember having my first appointment at around 8 weeks.

It may just be the receptionist, because she didnt sound too sure but was adamant u get seen at 12 weeks.

Maybe try different docs as appointment that late could mess up scan dates.x

dingdongdigeridoo · 29/06/2018 18:55

That’s very odd. I’m pretty sure the midwife needs to see you about 8 weeks so they can give you your notes, spot any potential issues etc. 12 weeks would be much too late, especially round here where scan dates book up weeks in advance.

Raheesmyboy · 29/06/2018 19:00

Thank you all! I think ill call the Doctors first thing on Monday and have a word with them, i knew waiting until 12 weeks was maybe leaving it too late.

Why not call the midwifery team direct? In lots of areas you can self refer and save wasting your time seeing a GP 👍🏻

Raheesmyboy · 29/06/2018 19:21

Flisspaps How do i go via the midwifery team direct? Ive never heard of that. From what my Doctors Surgery have said is i have to call the Surgery and then they will do a referral for a Midwife

I found the number on Google for the local community midwifery team based at our hospital and they arranged my booking in appointment straight away by phone.

dingdongdigeridoo · 29/06/2018 19:31

Try googling ‘midwifery team’ and then the name of your town. Or ‘X hospital midwifery’ for your local hospital. Most community midwifery teams have a central number.

Kate123cl · 29/06/2018 20:48

There is an NHS booking form which you send directly to a certain email address and then they give you a call (that's what happened with me anyway) can't remember what it was called though! May be worth giving it a google search

Wildlingofthewest · 29/06/2018 20:48

Undeniably pregnant!!!!!!!

Raheesmyboy · 29/06/2018 22:13

Thank u all soooo much for all your help! Googled it and the midwife team for my area has come up, so will give them a call on Monday.

Wildlingofthewest i know its obvious Blush But i always read people taking alot of tests so i just wanted some opinions on wether to take another just in case Grin
