Bump anger! Am I too big?!

Hi Ladies... I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with my first wee babba!

Today I had a meeting with my (male) manager who said I looked too big to only be 16 weeks. Not that he is aware but I have been asking myself the same thing for the past few weeks so it hit a nerve.

This is me on Saturday, I'm bending back being a bit of a twat with my mate but does that look 'too big' for 16 weeks?! I haven't gained a single lb yet and feeling frustrated by comments like this.

Thanks xx

I'd like to add... this isn't a vain frustration either, I just don't know where I should be on the 'bump' size scale and the people around me who have had children can't remember their first time.

Looks totally normal to me! Ask him if he meant to be so rude?!

ForEverlong · 04/06/2018 16:41

There isn’t really a good way to compare. Youll find bumps are all different sizes and shapes even at comparable dates. You’ll also find a million twats who will tell you your bump is too big or too small

You look great to me and totally feasible you’re 16 weeks (or 12 or 20 if you get my point)

aaaarti · 04/06/2018 17:09

Don't take any notice of what people say!
I'm 9 weeks pregnant and after I eat my bump goes bigger than yours! X

OliveOrTwist · 04/06/2018 17:10

Ignore him. I've found it to be mostly men or women who havent yet had children who comment on bump size. Its so rude!

mintich · 04/06/2018 17:24

I looked bigger than you, god knows what he'd say to me!
Everyone keeps saying I look ready to drop...I'm 21 weeks. People are unbelievably rude when you are pregnant

Nothisispatrick · 04/06/2018 17:33

You're smaller than I was at 16 weeks

Anditstartsagain · 04/06/2018 17:37

I had a huge noticeable bump first time tiny one second time bumps are all different.

A friend of mine was massive her bump was so big she struggled to walk then she had an 8lbs baby and was back to her normal size in a few months.

Only time you should worry is if you put on too much fat.

PotteringAlong · 04/06/2018 17:41

I look like tht and my youngest is 16 months...

TenuedeNimes · 04/06/2018 17:41

I was much bigger than that at 16 weeks.

My opinion is that most people really have no idea of what a full-term pregnant belly actually looks like and are in any case far too ready to spout their worthless opinions.

Next time someone comments like that I’d suggest responding with “Is it my turn to comment on your body now?” and letting a silence fall.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 04/06/2018 18:02

People have no clue what a pregnancy bump is supposed to look like. My friend had idiots telling her she was "huge" and "are you sure it's not twins?? Ha ha ha!" by colleagues and family members but was actually needed extra scans because her bump was measuring small!

Addy2 · 04/06/2018 18:10

Nah, I was much bigger than that.

Fedupxmum · 04/06/2018 19:07

Everyone is different, I was bigger than that with my first. You're 16 weeks, you're gonna be bloated and stuff anyway on top of everything else. The size of your bump doesn't tell you how big your baby is or how much weight you've gained/what stage you're at. It's your bump, you have a life in there and for your pig of a manager to be so rude to you, that isn't on, I'd be hurt and angry. There are just some things you should NEVER say to a pregnant lady, especially if it's coming from a guy. I was HUGE my first pregnancy and my daughter was born only 3lb 12oz. Don't worry, let your body do what it needs to do and enjoy your pregnancy! Good luck x

mplINsTA · 04/06/2018 19:12

I'm 27 weeks. This morning someone told me I didn't even look pregnant at all. This afternoon someone told me I looked like I was about to pop.

People just love commenting on women's bodies.

ellsharks · 04/06/2018 19:13

My sister had gestational diabetes with both of her pregnancies and was really big so I guess I'm a bit anxious of that, not that she had any problems. Thanks for the messages, il start to embrace it and not worry about size unless the midwife tells me anything's wrong. t seems almost over night my bump has started to patrood from under my bra now! I love it getting bigger and can't wait to get a kick to the ribs 😁

@mplINsTA yeah my friends told me I looked bloated on Saturday so in comparison I was like eh?! Am I or aren't I!! Lol x

Unless your manager is a midwife or obstetrician I would love to know on what basis they decided this!!

Aw12345 · 04/06/2018 20:10

Bumps can be deceiving. You've got a lovely bump. Everyone goes on that my bump is small... except the midwife who says it's actually bigger than average for my stage of pregnancy when she measures it!

Ignore them, especially men, they have no idea about pregnancy!!

SomeKnobend · 04/06/2018 22:35

Totally normal. It varies so much. I looked massive from early on, I think being short maybe baby has to stick out more as there's no room to go up! Also when I was thin bump showed much earlier and clearer than when I was fat, so even on the same person it can vary a lot between pregnancies. Your boss was being a real twat.
