20 week scan - can’t see bladder/low fluid

Had my scan on Wednesday and they couldn’t see the baby’s bladder, but I wasn’t too concerned as I’ve read that it can be common. I was asked to come back today, and they still couldn’t see the bladder and also mentioned that the fluid around the baby is low.

I’m now being referred to Fetal Medicine, but I don’t have a date for that appointment yet.

Everything else on the scan looked correct, but I’m so worried. Anyone had this?

Hey, had similar but not the same so just dropping by to offer some support.

At my 20-week Scan we found baby had a limb difference and they couldn’t find heart or brain. Absolutely awful time, sent to Fetal medicine (FMU became our new euphemism for FML and is still used today!)

We were in and out of FMU in a couple of different hospitals as they were all anxious about getting it checked before the 24-week abortion cut off. Awful!!!

Eventually they did a trans vaginal scan and saw all they needed to see, she had been lodged very low in my pelvis which made seeing the above impossible on abdominsl. Baby had a limb difference but was otherwise super healthy and is now almost 2.

I just wanted to offer some hugs and support at what I know is a super scary time and an agonising wait. Maybe worth asking if it’s worth doing a trans vaginal Scan to see if they can see any more when you get your appointment, if they don’t automatically try that. We had three failed abdominsl scans before they did but I wish they’d just done it sooner.

Wishing you all the best and that you get answers very soon Flowers
